That's me My son hasn't changed his opinion he says England have played Sh*te and all the teams they have played were crap apart from Belgium who beat them, looking on as someone who would like England to win the world cup I have to agree with him.i know if it were Scotland we would be feeling exactly like the English are now and not seeing how bad a team they are..Scotland are really sh*te England are just sh*te ..still hope they will be lucky enough to win the cup though

 

Is there any way the England team can win the World Cup, without the England fans finding out, cos I would be up for that.

 

Expectations exceeded. No way we will win the cup, but just to get to a semi-final is incredible. Hopefully Croatia are still knackered on Wednesday after extra-time, we need all the help we can get!

England did well against Sweden. Considered the players we have, we basically controlled the game and make it look as comfortable a competitive England game as I have seen for years.

Roll on Wednesday. Hopefully a great occasion even if we go out.

Three great teams in the semi's, all won their groups, Croatia and Belgium outstanding from the start, Croatia & Belgium B teams won their game 3's. France started slow but best performance saved for knockout stages. But all unbeaten so far.


Oh, and England

 

Sweden prevented Italy from even getting to the World Cup
ENGLAND beat Sweden very comfortably

Theirs only FOUR teams left out of all the teams in the WORLD that tried to get there or have been eliminated since

That makes ENGLAND one of the TOP FOUR teams in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD

Turns out, even if they do win, football will not actually be coming home !!!


However, the English game was still mainly a question of head-down dribbling and "backing up" (by colleagues anxious to seize what was later dubbed the "second ball"). This was not a game which would have conquered the world with its beauty.

And then the Scots had the notion of artfully distributing the ball among the players. It started with young men, from Perthshire and the Highlands mainly, who gathered at Queen's Park in Glasgow in 1867. They obtained a copy of the FA laws and amended them to conform with an almost scientific blend of dribbling and passing.

When they invented passing, these lads invented football. Not the heir to Shrove Tuesday scrimmages but the football that was to charm every continent. Far from being an English game.

Psst! Don’t tell ‘em you lifted it from the letters pages of a certain ‘Scottish newspaper’. Besides which it is pretty suspect. And the whole William Webb Ellis rugby origins story is another myth. Rugby just played a different version of a centuries old game with parallels in China 2,000 years ago. And it was still called soccer here in the 60s!
