Chemo AND radiation???? Having survived that lot (and the reason for their use) I wouldn't worry too much about preload. Just get out there and ENJOY!:grinning:

You do have a point! No more flat-track racing, though, maybe.

My 2013 T100 came to me with just over 2000 miles on the clock and £1000 of receipts for Dunstall exhausts, remap and dyno tuning - 67bhp at the rear wheel...

Still got a seat like an ironing board and stock suspension, though. Can’t see it, myself, although it doesn’t have the lurching from the AIS.

Nice bike, mind. A bit loud, but it’s got that “angry” feeling a T100 ought to have. Time for a decent seat (I fancy the Burton Bike Bits grey top one) and a visit to that nice Mr Hagon, they sorted out the handling on my ‘92 Sportster so I’m sure they’ll do the job on this one. Possibly a set of NH “M” bars, too

You can swap the risers back with the fairing fitted as i have done it with mine, bleed screw on brake master cylinder runs close with rubber dust boot on.

You will not need the longer hose as the shorter master cylinder bracket stays on the bars, not the risers

I doubt the master cylinder will clear the fairing with the original long bracket. The cylinder on mine is on the same "plane" as it was with the original one .i can send a pic if you like.regards

You are right, i did'nt try my original bracket as i fitted the low risers originally and of course cut the hose. I willhave a closer look when i go out to the shed tomorrow. Regards

Yes Andy, i originally fitted the whole kit and decidedthe position was too extreme, was told the higj risers would'nt fit but being a mechanic i figured i could make it work, it was ok with no mods needed. Great to ride now! Regards Kerry

I had a 2012 Thruxton and traded it for a 2016 Thruxton R after test riding the '16. Had my '12 in for a new battery right around the time the '16's came into the dealership. The sales guy convinced me to take a test ride on a '16 R while waiting. Oops! I really shouldn't take test rides. ;) Bought the '16 and loved it. But......last November I traded it for a 2019 Speed Triple RS. My Thruxton had about 6K on it. Great bike! Nothing wrong with it (although it did have a safety recall early on for a fuel pump sub-harness which was handled well). I just decided that I needed a Speed Triple after doing a two-day track school. I am sort of known for going through bikes. Sigh.

Oh, one other thing. Much as I loved my 2012 Thruxton, the 2016 for me was head and shoulders better. Engine, suspension, ergonomics--guess that's why the test ride sold me about half a mile out of the gate. :)

Me too, longest I have owned any bike was just a little over 4 years, that was a KTM Superduke, everything else less than 2 years mainly, test rides are mainly to blame, along with crashing!
I think many people come back into biking & buy a pipe dream which never really turns out to match the reality, so used bikes with low mileage appear quite regularly, this isn't just confined to Thruxton's.

Yes, I think you're right about the pipe dream, Billy. I'm continually amazed by how many bikes of every make are out there with low miles on them. When I see one like that I always wonder what the story behind it is. I have a friend (from the UK actually) who just bought a 2015 MV Agusta Dragster RR that had 1,100 miles on it. Pristine. I've bought all but one of my 8 bikes new but the one I bought used (my H-D Road Glide Special) only had 820 miles on the clock.

I started riding about 8 1/2 years ago and have had eight bikes. Still have three of them. With the sort of "leap frogging" I've done with buying/selling/trading, I think the shortest I've owned a bike was two years (my first bike) and the longest has been four. And out of those eight bikes, six of them came to live in my garage because of a test ride. You think I'd learn. :p Maybe I don't want to??!

Getting back to the original focus of this thread (yes, the squirrel is gone now), neilbaker99 was wondering about the Thruxton. I do have to say that I wish I had enough garage space (and $$$) to be able to keep my Thruxton R when I bought the Speedy because I really enjoyed that bike. And I've liked cafe racers since I first learned what they even were. Still do. Plus now I don't have a bike that really suits the style of the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride which I did on my Thruxton R last fall. No, I am definitely not a gentleman but I rode to fund raise on behalf of my brother who was diagnosed with prostate cancer shortly before the DGR. Oh, shoot, there's that squirrel again scurrying across my computer screen. My bro is doing great, BTW.

Here's my 2016 Thruxton R. This pic was taken prior to doing a tail tidy. Otherwise this is how she looked when I traded her.

The strange thing is - customers purchase bikes on a pcp contract - try to keep as new ( little use just polish) then after the 3 year period ( or less) take it back to the dealers. Great as the hit has gone and you get a low mileage bike. @dilligaf not included - he uses his bike.

It could just be sometimes you don’t ride your bikes.
I pxd a three year old 675r on my Thruxton with 700 miles on it and at the same time sold my five year old GSXR 1000 with 1200 miles on it .

I’ve only covered just under 800 miles on my Thruxton, I’m hoping to beat the combined mileage of both previous bikes:p

Yep, that's true. I have a good friend who loves his bike but just can't get out as much as he'd like for one reason or another--mostly his job. :( One of the nice things about owning three bikes as I do is that it keeps the mileage down on all three more so than if I had only one bike or even two. Where I live in AZ, I also am spoiled by the weather. I can ride nearly every day of the year in good to great weather conditions. Even the bad conditions in AZ are better that -20 F in the winter. When my hubby threatens to move to my brother's farm in Minnesota, I always remind him that he (not me- I grew up there and ain't moving back!) will only be able to do the outdoor activities we love--motorcycling and bicycling--about half as much for the rest of his life compared to staying in AZ. :grinning:

Don't get me wrong - a local Triumph dealer loves the certain few who buy garage queens. To them it's a sale made then a second sale with same motorcycle. Trust me - I don't do anywhere near the mileage I should on the R3 - hopefully this will change in the future. Damn this work thing!!

I replaced the lower bars for the standard bars without any problem whatsoever on my 2016 with Triumph café fairing.

I think people impulse buy them. That's what I did really, had been thinking about one then saw one I had to have. Also, I think they are often 2nd bikes, not the sort of bike you would probably pick if it was your only one. Then end up not getting used and taken back to the dealer.

I've done over 2000 miles on mine since buying it new in Dec. Very pleased to date.
