Always wanted a Raven jacket, so when I managed to get a distressed one second hand I was wrapped.

It's amazing with this technical cloth about that the Belstaff wax coats have made a comeback in fashion. I used to have a Belstaff Motorbike wax coat and trousers back in the 80s. Along with Lewis Leathers, they were cheap. Although i still like the design, i prefer the newer Technical clothing now as it's much more comfortable, longer lasting, lighter and much more waterproof. After then, i had a Weiss waterproof coat in the Belstaff motorbike style but made from an early form of Gortex. Don't think i paid over £30- £40 per item. Those good old days you could buy a brand new Honda CX500B with extras for £1500 and a BMW R100RT for £2500.

I had a Belstaff wax jacket I bought new in the 70's, really liked it, got a shock a couple of years back when I came back to Triumphs, look at the price of 'em now!

Yep, Belstaff and Barbour jackets used to be cheap functional wear but then got taken on by the hipsters and fashionIsra’s and the prices go through the roof, and they’re not much different.

I got mine on the pay weekly from my mum's Freemans catalogue, along with 2 Avon tyres for my 1956 Triumph Thunderbird, in those days you could even buy a 12g shot gun out of the catalogue.
    Wasn't life simple!
Probably about 1973-4. I think Lulu was one of their modelS. (YUK!!!!!)

    Those were the days :joy::joy::joy::joy:

This just confirms that you can find anything on the internet. Who in the hell uploads a 1979 Freemans underwear page :joy:

All this talk of Belstaff jackets brought back memories.

I had one for ages in the 80s and it had gone shiny in places where it rubbed due to the wax treatment "buffing up" I guess.

Anyway, came home from work one day to find it on the washing line. My mum had machine washed it because it looked scruffy.

Needless to say, she'd washed all the wax out of it and it fell apart shortly after.

    Mums eh!

I want a Halvarsson Seventy jacket, but can't bear the pain of parting with the folding money. I've tried it on a few times in the shop and think I look cool...

...apart from the Albert Steptoe face poking out the neck of the jacket. How did I get to be this old?

My wife (an eternally positive person) points out that it is a good thing (getting old), because the alternative is... well... not good.

I've got the Davida as well. A quality jacket and well worth the £210 I paid at the Bike Shed show. I first spotted it being worn by that fine fellow Henry Cole.

Furygan Thruxton waxed jacket - pissed down the first couple of times I wore it, but I stayed dry (even in Wales!!!)

That needs a spot of olive oil to crisp the skin and some strong grated cheddar mixed in the tatty.

I would agree with the olive oil to Crispen the skin. Feck butter or sour cream, go big with a big scoop of nuefachital cream cheese, not much fat, try it's fecking awesome. You will thank me later. Best tater topping ever and even some bacon bits on it won't overload your diet. Cheap thrills.

I got this for my birthday present last year, it weighs a ton and I prefer my Merlin wax jacket, but I wear it just to keep the peace.
