Tiglet Yes I agree. But hopefully he gets to know his bike first. And hopefully and I am sure he would be joining the novice riders group. Which I think at his experience level he would have to. But yes you are perfectly right. Its a big step and care is needed to save on hospital visits. Ride Safe Joe.
Hi Mate, Welcome to the Forum, lots of advice already regarding track days, I would say maybe try a track school, at these you turn up they supply everything you need to get out on track including a 600cc supersport bike, and you get an instructor showing you how to do stuff. This way you get to try before you buy as such, not everyone likes the reality of track days, there are a few people doing race schools, just google, link to Ron Haslam one below. https://www.haslamraceschool.com/ Secondly if you want to appreciate what it is like to be out gunned on the track, have a look at below, it's me on a Suzuki 600 Bandit in a group of supersport and superbikes (amongst others), now a Bandit is a budget commuter bike but is still more capable on the track than what you are thinking of using! Whatever way you go, enjoy the ride!
Cheers Will.you.are! You try to do your civic duty but one or two individuals leave you feeling like you are pushing water uphill with a pointed stick..... As if it is not bad enough with Americans trying to destroy the Queen’s English. It’s gotten (sic) “Howdy, y’all momentarily hip hop chow down dope ......”
Couldn't agree more, my namesake is dope coz I am the original WILL.I.AM (older than him you see, and he's a Yank) , he will have to settle for WILL.I.IS
This is really handy, thank you BB. It's more affordable than i expected, taking THEIR bike out on track, so I'm signing up for one of those sessions and then take it from there. Enjoyed watching the video you posted. Luke
What’s not to like, their bike to thrash, most of the race schools even provide leathers, boots & all the kit you need, so no need to risk any of your own gear either. But you also get the advice and training from an instructor who will help you get the best out of the day. I have done 2 of the Ron Haslam schools & learned quite a few things that have made track riding safer & more enjoyable. Go with an open mind & soak up the advice, as a fairly inexperienced rider it’s a much safer introduction to the track than doing aTrack day on your own bike. Good luck & enjoy!
