It's not a massive expense or anything... But where I am getting the license is a huge drag, 70 mile round trip to the cop shop, and when you get there there's nobody home.

I'll stick with the armex crossbow!

Which in itself, is daft. Can do a dampty site more harm with a crossbow, and I don't need a licence for that. (it's for target only. I don't kill stuff... And illegal to with a crossbow or longbow anyway.)

Its actually 15 mt...It is an offence to fire an air weapon without lawful authority or excuse within 50 feet (15 metres) of the centre of a public road in such a way as to cause a road user to be injured, interrupted or endangered.

You can actually shoot off a public foot path if it’s safe and 50 feet from a public footpath if that makes sense, I’ve a book somewhere with all the rules in from my part time keeper days, you can shoot your air rifle in the garden but you must have a solid back stop, one Xmas I got a Barnet wildcat crossbow I would have been around 14, at the time you could get them from Kay’s catalog , me and a mate got one each, while are parents were out my mate fired his at there shed which was 30 yards away and it went straight through both sides, if the pointed bolts hit the ground they burrowed into the ground, they were lethal.

Banned in the UK in 1965.*

However, if it wasnt for modern laws against manslaughter, it is still in statute that you can kill a welshman after dark in Chester, if hes carrying a bow. Similarly a scotsman in York. Now, Chester I understand...York not so much so.

    There ye go! :)

*Stupid thing law...can kill stone dead in 10 seconds with a longbow, but they didnt ban foxhunting with hounds, that rip the fox to bits, until mid 2000's. The law is an ass.

I'm all for shooting foxes, mind. They can be a real nuisance with lambs, chickens etc. But its a bit more humane than the hunt.

Which reminds me of an old guy we used to work for, he was stood in the field, with his shot gun, heard the hunt, the baying of the hounds...saw the fox run past, then comes the lead rider, who he told in no uncertain terms to "Get off my land". "But, my man, were chasing the fox...." "MY land. MY fox. Now fork off."

Years ago I had a original model 50 which was very similar to this gun.

I don’t know why but I thought you were a northerner , nice shooting, I used a hatsan semi auto on clays which was pretty good, there used to be a bloke an American I think who could shoot a load of clays with a pump he used to go round the game fairs.
