Congratulations @Sandi T . The orange would definitely be my choice of colour, I think it's my favourite Harley colour .
Thanks, @Dawsy! Yep, another new one. But I should be good to go now for at least a handful of years. I see keeping the "Fast Johnnie" Low Rider ST for a v-e-r-y long time. And I'll probably ride the new Street Glide as my primary touring / trip bike until I can't manage such a big bike anymore. Of course, I say that to my ride buddies and they're like, "Yeah, riiiight." Speaking of right, you are so right about my custom seat! In fact I just had a conversation with my nephew, Eli, who now owns the bike about that seat and about how he'd better appreciate it. I got that seat not so very long ago and love it. Of course, the new 2024 touring bikes have a different tank and my beautiful Le Pera WON'T FIT! Bad news for me, good news for Eli. I've liked each of my Le Pera's so much that I'll bite the bullet and get another for this new bike. But the folks at Le Pera haven't even made the changes yet so I may have to wait awhile. Maybe long enough for my wallet to stop smokin'.
Jolly good show Sandi! I may be just a few days behind you in the new bike dept, test ride booked PS........what's with the bell ringing?
Thanks, @Pegscraper! I'm really enjoying my new Street Glide. I've about 600 miles on it to date and have it scheduled at the end of this coming week for a few tweaks--exhaust, cam, air cleaner, & tuner. That should open her up a bit. Oooh, are you test riding that Scrambler 1200X? I'll be eager to hear how you like it...and if you bought it! Remember, "life is short, buy the..." You know the rest. The bell ringing is a tradition at the two Harley dealerships in Tucson. The newly purchased bike is parked under the bell and then all the employees honk the horn on a bike while the new owner rings the bell. Generally there's a lot of hooting and hollering and clapping. It's great fun and a nice little photo op, too. Speaking of photo op, share a pic or two with us if (well, probably when) you get the bike!
That’s great, @ Pegscraper! Congratulations! Have fun with those accessories. I love that part, though I have certainly learned that I have to build those goodies into my overall purchase price. Please share photos of your new bike with us when you get a chance and keep us posted as you accessorize.
I received my new wind screen yesterday and mounted it on my BMW R1250RS. The original one: The new one: The size is nearly the same. The main different is at the top of the screen. The dark one has no tear-off edge like the original. I am looking forward to test it soon under better weather conditions.
Finally found the hens teeth on eBay: Just like waiting for a bus, waiting for ages then two pairs came along at the same time. This pair standard and in good condition for a fair price and another pair custom painted white, cheaper and lovely design but they wouldn't have gone with my yellow Street Cup. Now to get the "Bonneville T100" labels changed for new graphics. Anyone know a good painter / sign writer in the Cheshire area who does good work?
Glad you finally got them Paul, I'm looking forward to seeing them on the bike. I've had all my recent paintwork done by Ride & Restore in Adlington SK10 4NG, so not too far from you. The main man is Christian, I'll PM you his mobile number but their land line is on their website. They are planning a move to Pott Shrigley as the Adlington place is up for sale but I don't think they've moved yet. You can always ride over there and have a look round. I'm about 2 miles from them and you're welcome to drop in for a cuppa and a look at the bikes.
So Finally got round to attempting to fit these bars. What a nightmare! Getting the tank off was the first saga with that fuel line clip. Then trying to get a spanner on the nuts to take out the bolts. Cramped enough with Triumph's bars, almost impossible with the Motone cross brace at the bottom. Anyway, I've managed to cross thread the lower right side engine mounting bolt, so need to order a new one. But now I've found that the washer on the upper right bolt doesn't fit in Motone's braced bracket! How important is that washer? There isn't one on the other three engine mounting bolts, only upper left side. Triumph instructions and Haynes both say that the washer should be fitted, but what does that washer do on the upper left side that isn't necessary on the lower left & right and upper right engine mounting bolts? Do I assume that the bracket will do the same job as the washer and fit without the washer? Or is the washer mechanically necessary (why on the upper RHS only?) and therefore I have to try and find a washer that will fit? Help
I admit the OEM mirrors do get a slating on a lot of the classics but their appearance doesn't really bother me. I look in them not at them and they work well for that. Bar end mirrors draw favour with many riders but they're more of a liability in traffic if you like to filter and I DO NOT like sitting in traffic!
