When I travel I remove the seat cowl, and slip two straps under the subframe. I then use those to secure my rollbag .Works really well.

It doesn't change the handling much @Sandi T. As the (limited) weight is over the rear axl there's no noticable difference. Even on "spirited :joy:" rides it feels just as nimble and "chuckable"... o_O

Tullibardine Sauncerre 220 Malt Whiskey is highly recommended. It is quite light but very smooth and at the moment it is on offer at Sainsbury's for £30 (usually £47)

In South Africa, our government has reintroduced the sale and transport of alcohol, due to "emergency rooms being overrun by alcohol-related cases". Which is obviously bull. They didn't make proper use of the time to prepare for the expected Covid-19 epidemic. Which hasn't quite happened yet.

The announcement was made last Sunday night, with no forewarning. Not to the liquor industry or the consumers. No time (or expectancy) to stock up.

    So, we are not happy...

I experimented this evening with another new cocktail. There seem to be a number of cocktails that include Campari in them so I'm ticking my way through a few. This evening it's a Rosita and I'm sipping it as I type. Delicious!! :yum:)

Wow, Phil, you are correct! Thanks for passing along that information. I would have missed it otherwise. :) I think I'll need another delicious Rosita this evening to celebrate. And I'll have to celebrate this auspicious day to my iCal as a repeating event. ;)

Thanks to @Phil May's proclamation that today was National Martini Day, I celebrated with another Rosita like last night. I appreciate the heads up, Phil! :kissing_heart:

I tell you, these Rosita cocktails are excellent and well worth the effort in spite of the fact they consist of double the amount of different ingredients than my usual martinis and gimlets. They are a delicious way to celebrate a very important national holiday as well as drown my covid and lack-of-riding blues. ;) The blurb below is from an Esquire Magazine e-mail in honor of National Tequila Day and described making the Rosita with mezcal which, while in the same family, is not exactly tequila. We do have an awesome mezcal in our cupboard so I may have to make another Rosita tomorrow evening using that. All in the name of research and science.

Forgot to include the "ingredient list" from last night's Rosita in case anyone cares to try one out.

1 1/2 oz. tequila and 1/2 oz. each of dry vermouth, sweet vermouth, and Campari + a couple of dashes of Angostura bitters. Shake and serve over ice with an orange or lemon twist or slice. :yum

Had to look up Lenard Rossitor, Phil. I seem to always learn new things by being a forum member so thanks for being the impetus for today's "lesson". :) I do think that classic cocktails are making somewhat of a comeback and it seems that Campari is a component of many. At least of the classics that I'm reviving lately. ;)

Against doctor’s orders, I had a beer while grilling and a glass of white wine with my dinner. Being bad never felt so good! Though, I’d kill for a gin and tonic.

Well, Phil, I've tried two cocktails that are similar to the Rosita I've posted about recently. One is the Negroni and the other the Boulevardier. I'm typically more of a martini and Manhattan gal when it comes to classic cocktails but spending most evenings home, (no) thanks to COVID, has me branching out a bit.

    Negroni:
Typically 1 oz each of gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth but I like to up the gin to 1 and 1/2 oz and cut the Campari back to 3/4 oz.
    • Shake with ice then serve over ice with a lemon twist or orange slice

    Boulevardier:
2 oz of bourbon or rye, 1 oz Campari, 1 oz sweet vermouth
    • Shake with ice then serve over ice and drop in a thin orange slice

If you prefer you can serve these cocktails up rather than on the rocks. In my case it's rock as in one large ice sphere. Let me know what you think if you try any or all of them, Phil. :)

Pint of Cumberland @Grinton. And it is Grin Town (or rather Grin Hamlet). Beautiful countryside, food and beer allied with walks.....luvverly. Been a fair bit of rain here in the previous day and was interesting to see how quickly the river Swale rose from a gentle swell to a raging torrent. We walked from the rental cottage to Reeth (half mile or so) and back again and couldn't believe by how much the river had risen in that time. The Bridge pub is a beer spit from the bridge and so you can totter to and from either having a Swale of a time.
