Aye. I was milk monitor. And I went on the student march 'Maggie Thatcher! Milk Snatcher! Out! Out! Out!'
Your point being? Poverty ain't funny, neither should it be a political point. My mother worked two fucking jobs long before equal pay, and still was fucking poor.
I loved my school dinners. Heart, Tongue, Liver, all the expensive cuts. Puddings chocolate sponge with peppermint custard ( thick skin on top) ooh & spotted dick
Poverty isn't funny. No silver spoons in my family either. However, it is not 'political' to remember all ''public' money is really taxpayer money. We all chip in some way somehow sometime. Politics start with how much you tax and how much you spend.... and how much you borrow for future taxpayers to repay.
Without wanting to get too heavy. My Dad was expelled from school, joined the Navy as a rating with no qualifications. Met my Mum (living Carfin St Glasgow Tenements), she worked in a fish mongers. They didn't have a pot to piss in. The only fortunate thing they benefitted from when married were married quarters (rented housing) no furniture etc. My brother was born, myself 4 years later. Sooo proud of my Mum & Dad, he retired as an officer from the Navy ( Lt Commander R. N.) They worked really hard and sacrificed so much in order to give us the best opportunities in life. Mums & Dads should be respected & celebrated. RIP Mum, well done Dad x
