I got home a bit late yesterday evening from an event and didn't have the energy to cook anything. But that was ok because all I really wanted--craved actually--was beer and popcorn! Yeah, dinner of champions. Well, I don't make it a habit but I really enjoyed it this time!

I really like this Shinerbock that is brewed by Spoetzl Brewery in the tiny town of Shiner, Texas. And it pairs quite nicely with Act II Movie Theatre Butter microwave popcorn. :yum:)

What’s the “cash refund” then paired letters about?

Yep, @Adie P is correct, @DCS900. It's a refund for this returning glass bottle (to where I don't have any idea!) and those paired letters are abbreviations of the states that offer this.

Holy moly! I didn't notice that. Or maybe I subliminally overlooked it. I think they left off a very important part of that message..."pregnant women". And I'm definitely NOT that. :p However, seeing that this beer is bottled in Texas, perhaps they do mean all women. ;):joy:

When we were youngins (eight or ten years old) most glass bottles had a return deposit and most people were litter-bugs. We'd go around with our wagon collecting them. It was one or two cents a bottle. They'd accept them at the store where the beverage was purchased. When we got enough money we'd buy beer. Just Kidding! I didn't start drinking till I was twelve.

    On another note...

If you turn your nose up at light beer, don't read any further. I started drinking light beer (Coors Light) when the low carb thing was popular. I have gotten used to drinking fizzy, sorta beer tasting water. I recently found Michelob Ultra Amber Max. It has a little agave in it. Like it.

Something different--Mezcal Añejo from Illegal Mezcal, Oaxaca, Mexico. Smooth and delicious. Similar yet quite different than añejo tequila. Tonight I drank it straight over one fat ice cube accompanied by mesquite smoked almonds.

Only time I ever bought a 6'er of that was when I did the Adkin's diet. I got the call up to head downrange on contract and I looked like absolute shit. Needless to say I was out of shape, and well over just a few pounds overweight compliments of my office job. I had 90 days to drop weight and not show up looking like a complete bag of shit. So I went on strict Adkins(<18 grams of carbs/day… NO BEER) and a pretty vigorous calisthenics regimen… just boot camp type exercises, and an aggressive bicycling program. The first couple weeks were murderous fatigue and cravings, but that abruptly went away and my energy levels exploded.

Anyhoo- At about 6 weeks or 2 months I could do a single regulated carb splurge, so I treated myself to 6 of those Ultras and a burrito with rice in it. A 6 pack of proper beer was too heavy calorie wise. Back then I was a beer snob before it was cool so my tastes were very refined- Trappistes, stuff like that… heavy. I'll never forget how those 6 bottles of veritable water tasted like nectar of the gods.

I recently opened up this bottle. I got as a gift quite a while ago. About time I had one.

No worries. What happens if you cannot board your flight? Do you have to find a hotel until you are clear?
