This evening it was High West "Rendezvous Rye", one of my favorite ryes along with Angel's Envy. High West is a distillery located in Utah and I like most all of what they make.

Today it was a Bloody Mary with New Year's Day brunch--compliments of Mr. Sandi! He made a southwestern version of Eggs Benedict minus the hollandaise but with some spicy, delicious roasted green chili. That was accompanied by roasted potatoes and onions and bacon.

As you can see by the photo, Mr. Sandi set up a Bloody Mary "station" so we could each add our own extras and condiments. When we'd nearly finished both our meal and our cocktails, I looked over at the Stoli bottle which looked to be still nearly full. Turns out Mr. Sandi didn't put vodka in my drink but had left that to each of us to do to our own taste, too!:joy: So I unwittingly had a Virgin Mary for New Year's brunch. See?! That's why I don't drink vodka. The darn stuff is so tasteless it's sneaky. : unamused:

But I made up for it later with this lovely whiskey from a local distillery. This bottle was a Christmas gift to me from Mr. Sandi.

The night was so beautiful that I opted to bundle up and sit outdoors to enjoy the starry sky while (whislt?) sipping my whiskey by "candlelight".:heart:

Nothing but coffee here. I said I'd support Mrs Octoberon with her 'dry January' endeavour. Now she's self-isolating with Covid and I can't go to the pub. I wouldn't mind but I thought she said 'dry gin..uary'.

Edit: I don't know why I called her, 'Mrs Octoberon'. We're not married. :D

This evening we cracked open this Christmas gift from "Santa" to Mr. Sandi. Neither of us had had this particular Irish whiskey before and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. :yum

It's been a while since I joined but isn't there some sort of authentication, or at least an email verification, for new members? This never used to be a problem.

@DCS900, did I miss something? Just checked in on the forum and saw your one word response on this site. "Spam". What's up? I don't see anything amiss on my end.

A spammer had posted and had a link in their post. I reported the poster and it seems admin have removed them and the post... I put the spam warning to avoid folk hitting the link...
I can edit mine now I guess.

I've been on whiskey lately so I went with something a little different last night. This tequila is so good that all it needs as a "mixer" is one large ice cube. :yum

Drinking a selection from my son’s brewery in Chamonix. He also has two bars there if anyone is going and fancy’s a good pint.

Followed later by, well, it might be a Mac12 or a Bunnahabhain 12 which I’ve not tried yet.
