  3. Fork Lock

Fork Lock Crème de la Crème

Miss Maggie was looking pretty beat after this past winter. Yesterday I detailed her from top to bottom and tire to tire. Washed her, polished the wheels, then Master Formula metal polish and Master Formula sealer on all the chrome, then two coats of Meguire's wax. I worked on her from 9:00 a.m. till about 1:00 p.m. She sparkled! Itching to ride, I went in to wash up and put on some long pants. When I came out twenty minutes or so later, I heard thunder booming in the distance and the sky to the west was black. I pushed her back into the garage and within a few minutes it was pouring. Today is Memorial Day and we had a gang over for BBQ so, no ride. But tomorrow is going to be beautiful. I WILL ride!!!

A nice little ride around of 85 miles yesterday on the ST taking in Malton food festival.
Bought some lovely curry sauce pastes after trying their testers. Weather held off despite the odd trickle.

This, would you believe, is a working, sort of, steam engine. It's actually a converted trailer with steam/smoke coming out of the chimney due to it being a commercial sized bbq.

If you look carefully you can see the trailer hitch at the righthandside of the pic. Somebody had put a lot of work into it, but I thought it was quite impressive.

Quick job turned into a longer job this afternoon.
Fitting new sat nav on the Explorer, would have been easy but old harness had been trapped down side of airbox so turned into a tank off job to get it out.
Anyway all sorted and new Garmin Zumo XT2 installed

What's happened to the radiator side pieces, corrosion?

Yes but reckon it’s only surface damage and probably expected with a bike of that age where dirt and water gets in under the bodywork

A light sand, say 180 grit, and a spray of paint would soon sort that out then ;)
Ideally, you'd need an etching primer but if you gave it a key to grip to, it should provide a reasonably permanent solution.

Been to Barrow In Furness on the Dave Day memorial ride out for Dave Myers.
Apparently 45,000 bikes when we arrived, anyone else from here there?

@Sandi T , no that's not me on the Road Glide. That's Si King who was leading the ride. I don't know how much you know about this over there, but Si King and Dave Myers were TV celebrity cooks, known as the Hairy Bikers.
Great entertainment with their cooking shows that were filmed in various worldwide locations with them on their bikes, meeting the local food producers and cooking.
Motorbikes, food and travel with a brilliant sense of humour, what's not to like? Being a biker and a keen cook I was a big fan.
Sadly Dave passed away in February of this year and Dave Day was in memory of him and a celebration of his life with a ride to his home town. This ride showed how popular he was and a great example of the biking community

Been bolting new shiny bits on the Street Triple.
Took a while, but got there in the end.
Get it set up next week, hopefully should be about 130hp at the back wheel.

Had the MOT this morning, pass with no advisories, at 23 years old it sailed through, the MOT tester was very complimentary.
It has now clocked up 4900 miles!

No typo, I bought the bike last October with 4300 on the clock, checked the history and it appears to have been laid up for 14 years, it was in good nick and I have spent the winter doing jobs on it, valve clearances, new oem exhausts, new Lucas headlight, new fork seals, new tyres, full service, deep clean, ACF treatment and big polish, it is like new.
I use the Bullet for day to day riding and the Bonneville is for sunday best, it is a great bike, no ABS, no catalytic converter, no mode selector, no fuel injection, it is a proper motor bike.

I've not heard of Si King or Dave Myers, @FellZebra, but that show sounds wonderful. It also makes (more) sense that Si is on a $50K motorcycle! You're so right about a memorial ride like this being a great example of the biking community. :)

Cool! I’d love to see that, @Dawsy. Do you if those episodes are available??
