The street twin has a new cam in and so a day out on it with the wife was on the cards; strike whilst the weathers good.



Forget Byland cafe for sensible priced food, £13 for x2 lattes and x2 bags of crisps

105 mile ride around using predominately B roads and no rain until we got home, then, it even waited until I'd cleaned the bike and put it away .

 

I parked my Street triple up in Bridlington harbour car park this lunchtime. When I returned a Red Speed Twin was parked up next to my bike (sorry no photos) anyone on here?

Got caught up in the bloody cycle race road closures in Glasgow city centre,, raging. Thought nip through the shut streets on to gt western Rd and down Byres Rd to the clyde tunnel,, no chance, ended up taking 90mins to get home, stop start,, been years since my wrists and hands were so numb!!

Weather finally improved in my little bit of Cheshire but too much work and tax returns have kept me off the road. Recently bought slightly thicker cheek pads for my Bell Bullitt (the originals were a little loose) to see if that reduced the wind noise in the helmet.

Perfect weather this afternoon, I had to put my tax return in the post and make a local visit for work. So rather than just jump in the car I chose to take the extra time of changing into my Richa chinos and fabric jacket, pull the helmet and gloves on and use the bike.

So glad I did, I used the Bell rather than my usual (and much quieter) Shoei GT Air 2. Of course I had to take a diversion out of the village to the Four Ways café for a coffee break between the Post Office and the visit to road test of the new cheek pads.

Surprisingly few bikes at the Four Ways today, but I guess people were riding rather than drinking, there's been so few riding days so far this summer.

Nope, the thicker pads made no difference; the permanently open brow vents are obviously the main culprit, oh well, keep using the ear plugs.

Only about 16 miles all told, but it was soo good to be back on two wheels, I was beginning to wonder why I'd bought the bike if all I could do was look at it.

Er..I think a picture of your bike parked outside Four Ways might be more convincing evidence. A helmet on a table could be taken in your (tarmacked) back garden

 

Thought I'd show a couple of minor and totally unnecessary mods to my Street Twin.


Triumph headlight bezel. On discounted offer from a Triumph dealer (can't remember which). I thought it looked a bit smarter than the rather dull original. It comes with a hole at the top, which I've been told is to accommodate a headlight grill, but will also allow water in. I found a tiny Triumph badge, ground off the pin, and super glued it over the hole.

..... but anyone who knows Street Twin front brakes wouldn't believe me, so I'll settle for a nose dive

 

You just need a high fence and some German soldiers chasing you...

 

I'm glad someone else thinks the Street Twin brakes are bollocks.

 

But if you look carefully in the top left corner, you'll see the entrance to J&S Accessories which (being from Cheshire yourself) I'm sure you'll know is opposite the Four Ways.

 

That's a very classy upgrade, love the badge idea, it looks great.

I keep thinking about that headlight rim for my Street Cup, but my grand plan is to fit the Thruxton "dolphin" fairing and then it would be wasted.

 

Totally frivolous. They're totally pointless, but I keep getting that itch to fit the Triumph silver ones; so far I've resisted scratching.

Oh yes, I know that place well, I've had many a fry-up there. In fact I go there more for the cafe than for J&S, which I usually find pretty disappointing. If it wasn't for the cafe I doubt I'd visit J&S.

 

I don't know how much Triumph charge but these were £13 including p&p. They're magnetic (I was surprised how strong they were) and have a tiny grub screw, to which I added a touch of Loctite. Hopefully they won't bounce off at the first pothole.
