Thanks Wessa, strangely wasn’t too upset until I tried to sort setting up a replacement at home  was a great weekend and will post the trip with riding both coasts north of Auckland and a stay in the Bay of Islands :sun:

Great photos, @Dartplayer! It's wonderful to see so many bikes out. :) I hope you get your phone thing sorted quickly and to your satisfaction. Looking forward to your post about the trip about riding the coasts and your stay in the Bay of Islands. :grinning::heart_eyes:

Slightly apprehensive before we set off, but as soon as we started moving that faded. It went very well, actually. Considering it was only the 4rth time she actually got to ride it. We took it very easy, and the few hickups (mostly annoying MAMILS on narrow riverside roads) she encountered were dealt with easily.
She HAS found out it is very quick off the mark when the throttle is not carefully operated... :joy:

Today it was finally so far. After the first time with us the temperatures in the morning were above 0 degrees Celsius, it was even 5 degrees Celsius (!), my BONNIE was allowed to drive with me to the office. My wife drove ahead with her TIGER 900 on the highway and I followed her. The BONNIE of my wife must still hold out at temperatures over 10 degrees Celsius in the garage, until she may also come the 60 kilometers to the office :sob:. On the outskirts of the city, we parted ways and my BONNIE got to know her new "friends".
A KAWASAKI 900 and an INDIAN SCOUT BOBBER.

Thanks Pat, managed to retrieve most things.
Had a later model, so backup no good :sob: Hardest thing was to get replacement SIM, as license was with phone:tired_face:

Looks like today is going to be the only decent day this week, so I thought I ought to get out and about on the bike.

Sunny Norfolk. Dull and cloudy tomorrow and then much colder and rain from Wednesday. The temp has to be a minimum of double figures for me to go outside :)

Still too much salt on the roads for my liking. Since buying the bike in November i've finished what i wanted to do to it over the winter so it is ready for the road.

Checked over the brakes, pads all fine and calipers/pistons just needed a good clean. Run a spare clutch cable so that i don't get marooned at the side of the road should it go (you can guess why i do this). I had to replace the front axle pinch bolts as they were staggeringly dry and the hex was starting to deform so best safe than sorry (i suspect they might've been over torqued at some point in the past). I put an optimate charger on it. The engine got a good clean but there is pitting on the casing in places but it is an 09 and it will not be a garage queen with me. Checked the rear axle bearings for smoothness and had the wheel bearings checked when i put new hoops on it. In addition to the above the fairing got a darn good clean.

Roll on some salt free roads

Edited to add that i used some Hammerite black paint on the inside of the rear swingarm where the finish was off. No rust thankfully but a good coating just to keep it away.

Salt is on the road all year round, it just crystallises in dry weather then turns back into solution when it rains, worse in summer in a way as warmth creates a better environment for corrosion.

Looks great! I've been to Elie a couple of times, you've got some nice roads there.

Having had the flat bar kit fitted to my Thruxton last week, today I went for a couple of hours ride. With clip-ons this was about my limit of late. Well I’m pleased to say that after two hours I was feeling great. No pressure on my wrist or shoulders. The flat bars have definitely done the job.
I stopped at Nantwich and then Whitchurch for a drink.

Please tell her "way to go!" from me, Vulpes. Glad she's back in the saddle (the motorized kind this time) again. :)

Glad to read how well that new flat bar kit has solved the wrist and shoulder pain for you, @Wessa. Your Thruxton is looking good. I'm sure he's happy to remain part of your family.

Cleaned my rims of all the old tar-like chain lube. It's still in the crevices of the tire sidewall but I got the tread cleaned off. I'll clean the sprocket when I change the tires.

My SC with those bars is overall more comfortable but I don't like that they're wider and have less pullback than the stock Clubman style. At least, having the ST handlebar clamps gives me more bar options. :)
