This morning six of us met up at our usual QuikTrip gas station. It was a bit brisk starting out as the temperatures were in the high 40sºF. @Dougie D's cold weather gear description in his recent featured thread came to mind as I layered on the warm clothes including long johns and my heated vest. Yep, I'll admit it--30 years in Arizona has thinned my blood and I'm a wimp. ;):joy:

Our agreed upon breakfast destination was Mi Pueblito in Mammoth which is about 45 miles to the northeast. I'd just been there last weekend but love the place so was more than happy to return there today.

I've posted photos from this restaurant several times before so this time I thought I'd focus more on the bikes than the food--though I'd be remiss to not include something about my meal since it is a "breakfast ride" after all. :yum:)

When we arrived at our destination the place was so quiet I was afraid it might be closed. Nope, it was just quiet. And all of the motorcycle parking spaces were available. Dedicated motorcycles parking at a Mexican restaurant--just one of the many things I love about this place which has become a staple in our ride repertoire in the past couple of years.

One of our friends on the ride today hadn't been on a Sunday ride with us in a very long time--probably at least a year--due to some health issues. We were really glad to see him when we pulled up at the gas station. And he was on his new BMW R1250RT.
    IMG_4698.jpeg

Our friend who recently bought a Harley Pan American was out, too. And he'd just installed his new panniers on his bike this past Friday and so far is pleased with them. He'd taken it off-road yesterday to test it out.

Everyone is our group still prefers to dine outside because of Covid. Today with the temperatures cooler than normal, seating on the patio was wide open. We had to split our group of six to two tables because the seats are attached to the table and the tables are attached to the patio! :joy: But the patio has some fine views unlike the indoor dining room.
    IMG_4694 2.jpeg

Though the restaurant was quiet when we arrived, it got busy in a hurry. Here's a snap of the indoor dining area. Evidently there was to be a party for someones 60th birthday today. And the indoor dining room does have some nice art on the wall provided by local artists.

Mi Pueblito makes great posole and that's what I chose today. It's a hot stew plus it's spicy hot, too. Just the thing to warm me up. I was so excited to eat my posole and homemade flour tortilla that I totally forgot to take a picture when my bowl was full and all pretty looking. :joy: But here's a photo off the aftermath. Mi Pueblitos posole (or pozole) is the red version with pork.

As we were finishing up our breakfast a couple pulled up on a V-Strom. I immediately noticed the woman's helmet and when we all struck up a conversation, I asked if I could take a photo of it. Very unique!

    IMG_4705.jpeg

All in all todays ride was delightful--as was the breakfast. I checked my trip mileage back in the garage and showed 95 miles on the day. A great ride to end a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. :)

I’m not at all jealous @Sandi T . We are working through snow and sub zero temperatures. Pot belly stove is working hard. :)

I’ve said feck it all and come over for 10 days winter sunshine in the Canary Islands. All going well and feeling very smug whilst getting texts from friends back home saying how cold it was. Until the new Covid showed up and now we’ve got todo all sorts of tests and swabs and feck knows what to get back into the Uk..Ho Hum…

…but who’s counting, right? I do feel your pain, @Wessa. Here in the desert, our count down is to October when the temperatures start to provide some blessed relief from the heat. :sun:

I wish you luck and wish you well and getting back home, @Oldskool. Please let us know when you’re home safe and sound. With all that’s going on, you might even be relieved to be back in spite of the crummy weather.

Go ahead Sandi. Rub it in. High here today was 50 - not bad. I'll ride down to 40 or so. Used to be 30, but as I age the temp at which I'll ride goes up. Rides will be fewer and farther between, so I hooked up the trickle charger on the Speedy today.

Hang in there. @Fork Lock. Spring will be here before you know it (hopefully!). We start out with the temps in the 40'sºF somewhat regularly here in Tucson in the winter but I think the major difference is that it always warms up at least into the 50'sºF even on the coldest of days. Once in awhile our temps dip to around or below freezing but you can count the number of days that happens in a year on one hand. On those days we just pat the bikes on the tank and stay indoors by the fire with a cup of coffee. I found this chart some years ago. You may already have one like it but I've found it to be useful. Stay warm! :):kissing_heart:
