    Fitted some new front brake pads on the SS after they developed a squeal on Sunday evenings run out and noticing that they were almost down to the metal base plates! This is certainly no sports mount but the brakes are up there with the best and together with the new fork springs just encourage last minute, stand it on it's nose, braking. Fitted EBC Double H sintered pads which feel as good as the OEM Brembos.

    Nice Trident, Adie. Slightly different to mine (black around the petrol tap instead of brushed stainless steel) but none the worse for that. Me likey!
    No, I've not disappeared from here totally, but life is getting in the way a bit too much at the moment for my liking.
    Managed 100 miles or so on my Trident today - first time out since last year! - and in the process tried out Westway's fully synth oil. Really suited the old girl well at a price (now £24.99 for 5ltrs - a bit less when I bought mine) that really suited an old Yorkshireman! Much better than Shell Advance (but then again so is custard) which turned the clutch/gearbox clunky and a fair bit better than Motul 5100 which I would have been happy to use again. A useful saving when you are building a fleet?
    Keep up the good work collecting T300s - you know it makes sense!!

    Hey Steve! Good to hear from you - and my sincere apologies for the entirely misplaced assumption that you'd disappeared off to the sunlit uplands of 'another place'!

    The Trident was a purely impulse buy after seeing it advertised locally at what I thought was a reasonable price. I made an even more "reasonable" offer which was refused and I thought that would be the end of it but the seller called me back after a week or so and accepted my offer! I've always liked this colour scheme - especially the hand finished gold tank striping - and this is fairly low mileage for the year so it had to be done. It's not entirely as I'd like it to be but it goes well and looks OK.

    I knew it was missing the brushed alloy side panel overlays so I managed to buy a couple of beat up panels from the US, got them to cut the sections off to leave just the small section with the finishers and - with the invaluable help of Ron ASHURST - got them posted to me .... all at some expense but I was struggling to find any here at anything like a reasonable price so I thought it was worth it... at the time! The intention is to drill out the rivets holding the metal overlay onto the plastic panel and transfer the overlays. Of course, some time later Sod's Law subsequently played a hand in me finding a Gumtree ad. with a couple of good side panels in green but hey-ho - they'll be valuable spares for my '92 Trident.

    I did manage to find ONE (NOS) standard round, chrome mirror (from a former Triumph dealer in Goole, I think?) but can't find a second one for love nor money so the 'pattern' impostors have to stay on there for the time being. I also need one black chrome silencer can - one of mine has been painted matt black. I live in constant - but undoubtedly vain - hope and expectation.

    On the subject of oil (OH NO!!) I've been buying in bulk from Smith and Allan for some time and have been happy with the Limitless semi-synth. 10W 40 for all the T3s. In 20 litre tubs it works out at just over £3 per litre delivered. It's a right royal PITA to dispense the stuff from a 20 litre tub (I'm trying to work something out with that!) but it meets the specs for all the bikes - including the Street Triples - so, for me, it's worth having the larger pack size. And I'm a Scouser so "free" (i.e. 'robbed' ;)) is more the usual order of the day - so, for a Yorkshireman it is, surely, a no-brainer? :D

    Good to hear that you've been out on the Trident but, you know the drill - no pictures, didn't happen! I do hope that you and Mrs. Stevethegoolie are in good health and are keeping well - it's good to hear from you. We need to keep the T300 flag flying - I'm doing my best.

    Small thing but I changed the ratio of the front master cylinder to be 20.
    I'd read on the new triumph rs review that it made the brakes less "more or nothing" and it only bloody worked!
    Ok, mines the older rs but i'd always thought that the brakes were not as good as the reviews seem to have mentioned so i've tried it and, wow, what a difference it makes!
    from the manual:
    The ratio adjuster has three lever positions: • 19 (19 mm) for a softer brake feel with a longer lever travel • 20 (20 mm) for a firmer brake feel and a medium lever travel • 21 (21 mm) for a firm brake feel and a shorter lever travel.

    I guess that mirrors and silencers (the correct ones!) will eventually turn up on ebay or s/hand dealers' websites. Patience and frustration are the order of the day!
    I was thinking of using a cheaper oil a few years ago but bottled out 'just in case'. But I am well pleased with Westway fully synth - the bike seems very happy on it (55,200 miles on the clock). Just shows how misconceptions can get the better of you! Smith & Allen were also in the running for my custom but after speaking with Westway I went with them.
    I actually had my camera with me on my ride but was enjoying myself so much that I forgot to stop and record the event. Silly me!
    All well at Chateau Goolie Mk II thanks (moved early last year to The People's Republic of South Yorkshire) but are in the process of moving again in the not too distant future, hence my lack of involvement here (and elsewhere!!). Hope you and yours are also well.

    Mr. Sandi and I are trading off "new dog" duties and it was my turn to get out of the house for a couple of hours this morning while he kept an eye on her. I decided to take a little spin on my Speed Triple RS and did a couple of errands while I was out and about. I rode up and around a master-planned retirement community called Saddlebrook that's about 25 miles north of our house. Traffic was light today and when I got out the door it wasn't too hot yet.

    There's a little shopping area in Saddlebrook that has a Minute Market and gas station. It's a good spot to get something to drink and gas up if needed. I had gassed up Speedy earlier in the ride after a stop at the bank. So today I decided that Minute Market was a good spot to get a glazed donut and a bottle water. The Breakfast of Champions! ;):joy: At least Propel "is enhanced with electrolytes".....for whatever that's worth. ;)

    There are typically Saddlebrook residents driving golf carts everywhere and today was no exception. The community is built around a golf course so it's no surprise to see lots of golf carts about. But it seems that golf carts are a primary means of transportation even for non-golfers. I must have seen about ten golf carts come and go in the 20-30 minutes or so that I hung out with my water and donut. In fact, the reason I stayed that long today was that I was fascinated by the golf cart scene and the other "scene" today which was the landscape and maintenance workers and their trucks and trailers. I think I hit the Minute Market at the exact time that every landscaper and maintenance worker in Saddlebrook was on their break--and they seemed to all be taking it at the Minute Market.:laughing:

    Yep, we have a new boxer, @Ducatitotriumph! Her name is Ellie and she's a one and a half year-old boxer.:heart: I did post a few photo in the Our Pets thread a few days ago and will post another right now. Thanks for asking! :kissing_heart:

    Had a run up to Braemar with my Mrs yesterday afternoon, then i went to get my 2nd jag at 6pm,hall was closed, so checked my letter and it's today:rolleyes:. a couple of my mates were through at bike meet in Arbroath so i decided to have a run through to meet them

    Today, (I don't get out much) I will be mostly wearing corduroy and installing a 7 plate clutch on ye olde T120V. Never done one before but thought I would as I was putting in a new primary gasket.
    Apparently, stops grabbing, slipping, and makes you younger and much more attractive.
    This is what you get - 7 new friction plates along with a new steel plain plate:

    The original has 6 friction plates and 6 plain plates:

    The new friction plates are thinner than the original so an extra friction plate can be installed. Therefore an additional plain plate is required, along with the original 6 steel plates.

    And, as I was there, got a nice sexy ally pressure plate, new T120 springs (T140's are a bit stronger) and new rod and locking nut thingy

    Farted around with the adjustments (no handlebar adjustment on this one as I'm using a HD Sportster clutch cable - adjustment is all in the cable) and job's a good one.
    I've no idea if the pull is easier as I'm well strong so I don't notice. But will update once I get it out on whether it's cured the grabbing and ease of neutral finding. I think I'll be having cod and chips tonight. Over....

    Well, seems Spring/Summer is everywhere except here - been bucketing down for the last ten days with more to come - hopefully next week will see "Clouds/Sun" and temps above 8C! So, what have I been doing:
    - Avon Spirits installed - have about 3k kms on them and they are noticeably better than the OE Pirellis - However, the steering does seem a little heavier (?)
    - Fitted TEC X-Pipe - bit of a PITA. All was going well until I tried to reinstall the ring-clamps & seals at the rear of the X-pipe. Finally realized to remove the metal/graphite seals off the mid-section exhaust pipe and attach them to the X-pipe and then install the exhaust pipe. Hopefully this is a good tip - I never saw this on any of the videos. When swapping the Cat for the X-pipe - everything has to come off …but reassembly needs some care.
    - New Corbin Seat arrived and feels good - a lot more support. I have a Triumph backrest and Burly Panniers that pass under the seat. The seat fits well and needs a good, but not excessive, push down to engage the seat pin.

    Took the bike out for a run to see what the new / secondhand seat was like. Oh heaven no more numb bum. Also had a good laugh some guy in his American jobby reversed out with lots of throaty exhaust engine cuts out tried to restart and battery nearly flat. Not good when your posing, but then it got even funnier when someone got some jump leads and they didn't know where the battery was hilarious.
