Finally got a short run in while it wasn’t raining for a change.

Finally got it fitted and went for a short 50-mile spin. Given the money I spent on the booster plug, I wish I could say I immediately noticed a transformation as I'd heard others report...no dice. I may not be the most perceptive so I'm going to ride with it for a while then go without it to see if I notice it then. But for now, I'm thinking I may have been better off putting the money toward a wind screen. On the up side, the booster plug was dead easy to install and will uninstall just as easily.

Did a couple of other minor things to the T100. I added a license plate frame that a friend gave me.

And I replaced the "points" cover. I asked HH for a picture of the new cover and this is what he gave me:

Uh, yes, the cover is in that picture if you look very, very closely, just not what I had in mind...: unamused:...maybe he was busy changing the oil?

Aaack! You're telling me, Oldskool. :p:joy: I've been "curious" a number of times when it comes to motorcycles--and once (which was enough) when it came to Mustangs. Mr. Sandi just shakes his head and laughs.

Well, when it comes to motorcycles, for me the words "curious" and "expensive" seem inextricably linked. :worried::joy:

The recent work you did on your tank looks good, OsteKuste! Glad you were able to get out for a quick ride.

Last time I got “curious” a new Jeep followed me home. It’s 21 years old now so I think I made a good choice!

I wouldn’t expect earth shattering changes. Mine helped with the choppy throttle at low speeds, which for some reason not all our bikes suffer from. It also helped mellow out some of the popping on engine braking and deceleration, again more for me maybe due to the drag pipes I’m running with absolutely zero baffles. The biggest and most subtle change was the heat range my bike was running in. In past summers with temps in the 90s I could feel a decent loss of oomph. It hasn’t got that hot yet but I can tell by the fact that my recently cleaned and rebrushed exhaust headers (Street Cup has brushed stainless pipes, not chrome) have not colored near what they have in the past. Even with a few decent spirited rides the coloring is at a minimum, making me believe the bike was running quite lean and hot before.

Thanks. I'd seen your comment before about the bluing/discoloration so would be glad if I could avoid that. Haven't had any issues with that yet, but I have only about 1900 miles on the T100 so far and as you noted it hasn't really been hot yet this year. Would be glad for a less choppy throttle at low speeds. Somehow I still managed to stall the bike taking off at an intersection and didn't notice a smooth-out of choppiness but I'm still giving it a chance. I use engine braking a lot and don't have engine popping but I'm running OEM exhaust. Thankfully it looks like the weekend is going to be beautiful weather:sun: so hoping to get a ride or two in and will be way past 2000 miles by the time Monday rolls around again. I love your Street Cup...always love seeing pics of it.

Today I did a trial run bolt extraction on something I made yesterday with 5 nuts all threadlocked onto bolt...

    test.jpg

I used a tiny disc cutter on my Dremel to start a slot, then very slowly and patiently, with some fairly crappy 1mm burrs that I ordered, I deepened and widened the slot. After a couple of attempts I managed to turn the bolt about a whole turn (hurray!) before the metal on one side of the slot broke (boo). Guess that's was always likely to happen.

I think I'll try this method on the bike, it may be a vain hope, but perhaps bolt if bike isn't as tightly held. Can't do that today though because the budget right-angle attachment for Dremel that arrived today didn't look up to the job, so returning it and ordered genuine part for delivery tomorrow...

Keep giving it a squirt of wd40 for a while before you tackle it... should make the job considerably easier. Good luck :)

Can’t you drill into the stuck bolt and tap the hole with a reverse (left hand) thread, make a bolt out of papier-mâché and squeezy bottle, die a reverse thread and screw the newly fabricated bolt into hole. As you tighten it, the stuck bolt might come out as it (and this is the clever bit) would be rotating the correct way to undo. Easy… (and total nonsense).

Alternatively Semtex made into a shaped charge might help.

Weld a bolt on, either stick or MIG should get in there. Or you could try to drill the bolt (use a 90 degree chuck if required) and use a screw extractor bit. Or take the wheel, swing arm, suspension etc out to get the space. If you have the room you could use a grinder to cut a slot and then an impact wrench. You never know, a punch and hammer may just be enough. Drill through from the other side and get it that way - you can make good to the hole afterwards. There's gotta be a way, less beer and more hitting required. You'll get it, best of luck :)

Drill it out, tap a new thread and insert a Helicoil.

Edit: I’m sure they do that on aircraft and other platforms where safety and structural integrity are critical.

Well, turning my test piece with a spanner 'only' required 8Nm torque not as much as I expected (I left threadlock a day to fully cure). Anyway, fingers crossed...

To quote a friend who's also advising me 'Plusgas it. And if anyone suggests wd40 I'll personally come and make them drink it...'. So can I have your address ;) Actually, I had to confess I'd WD40'd it, so like a good little mouse, got onto Amazon for a next day Plusgas delivery.

Thanks for all the good advice. Lack of space is the big handicap. With monoshock out I've got 8cm, need swingarm out to get 21cm, enough for 90 degree drill. Can't drill from outside as it's a blind hole, so would be drilling through frame and guessing where :scream:

Friend (2 hours away) has welder and workshop, so if my slot cutting method doesn't work, I plan on making a temporary bracket for airbox and head up to him in a couple of weeks.
