Wessa - thanks very much, it's not clear coated yet. I'll probably use a matt. The colours are done in acrylic with a paint brush so all ok there to sit around indoors in the warm painting away. The 2 pack clear coat will not like the temperature however so I'll wait for the weather to warm up a bit.

Note: for those of you doing your own painting, you need a 2 pack (ie resin paint with a hardener additive) for petrol tanks, don't bother with anything else even if they say petrol resistant, they are not.
You do not need any specialised spray equipment these days for a clear coat, there are in built 2 pack spray cans available, which work very well and can be polished to a mirror finish.

This past Saturday (I know, not what I'm doing with my Triumph TODAY), Mr. Sandi and I rode to a late lunch with a riding buddy we've not seen much this past year. It was a rather blustery day and threatened rain but fortunately we stayed dry and reasonably warm. Our friend had suggested we ride on Saturday rather than waiting until Sunday because rain was predicted for Sunday and Monday. We decided to ride to Mammoth, a small town 45 miles north of Tucson, to have lunch at a great little Mexican restaurant there with outdoor seating. We were wise to follow his suggestion because it has been raining off and on for the past two days.

Our buddy was on his 2008 Triumph Rocket, Mr. Sandi was on his Harley Street Glide, and I was on my Speed Triple RS. Actually, my Speed Triple is currently my only bike in the garage! Both my Harleys are at Tucson H-D, one for new handlebars and the other for a warranty repair for some shifting issues (shifter pawl problem). I can now use this an an example for people who ask, "But why do you need three motorcycles?" ;):joy:

It was really cool that when we pulled into Mi Pueblito, a Street Glide Special exactly like mine was parked in front of the restaurant! And I parked right in front of it. I wound up talking with the owner for awhile and we discussed what we'd each done to customize our bikes. He and his friend, who was on the other Street Glide in the photo, were also from Tucson. He shared that he'd bought his bike from a salesman at Tucson H-D who I know well. What a small world. :)

Notice on which bike the sunbeams are shining. ;):joy:

Mr. Sandi and our buddy with a cheese crisp appetizer. I had the posole which is outstanding at Mi Pueblito. They serve it with delicious fresh flour tortillas made on the premises. :yum

We woke to lots of snow nearby today, too, @Sprinter! @unclescratch and I are probably located about 300 miles or so from each other but much weather in our large state of Arizona is dependent on altitude more than distance apart. A bit of geographic info on AZ.

I posted a couple of photos of the snow on the mountains about 5 miles to the north of my house in the Random Photos thread earlier today but here's one pic for you here. Throughout the day today friends and colleagues (working from home) were reporting that they were had or were getting snow at their houses right in Tucson proper. For some reason at our house Mr. Sandi and I got rain but no snow. So our temps last night and today were quite a bit lower than that 17ªC from that last weather image from last Saturday!

That’s amazing - now just need to grind off the excess to get it nice and smooth.

Kidding! That is some awsome talent. Well done you!

Covered over 500 miles in the last 10 days with work and Blood Biking, mostly in the p*ssing rain and on motorways.
First dry day today and I managed to spend some time on normal country roads until I came across a "Road Closed" sign. Ignored it and rode through two smallish floods but I guess they were right!

Plastic, mate. Which I think is good, not prone to corrosion...

Sold my 74 T150V Trident, garage seems much bigger now :p:p
cant decide whether to fully restore a 73 T140V or just get it running and sell on as a ride or restore.
Quite fancy building a Norton 850 Commando if i can find one at the right price
