I went out on the tiger today. Bike got dirty so cleaned it and left it on the drive in the wind before I go and put it to bed. It was great to out with the wind in my face again. Bonus was it was quite warm as well :):)

Well today I am in Bunbury WA. At a friend's house , he wanted help with this IMG_20210118_115143.jpg
    A Laverda 1000 3CL
Helped him lift out the old motor and put the current newly rebuilt original engine back in. IMG_20210118_115122.jpg
This is his shed 5 laverda's.
Three registered, one runs but a lot of work required before he will register it and the one I helped swap motors , which will be ground up rebuild.
He has enough parts to build two more complete 1000 tripled and a couple of earlier 650/750 twins.
Now I am fully retired I hope to see and help him get on with the work. He hopes to have the current 3CL done in 12 to 18 months, he's in no rush ....

    cheers capt

Enjoyed a short 60-mile ride out Sunday afternoon that pushed me over the first mark on the break-in of my T100...:party:yea! Super glad :blush:to have that part done...now I can shift without much worry about over-revving on the rest of the break-in schedule.

About halfway out looking for a cut back to the road home, we hit a deadend at the gate of a farm called The Blessed Fig Tree. We didn't mind since it'd been a lovely road with farm houses and cows on both sides and at the turn around we paused to warm our cold hands on our engines. Forgot to snap any pics...just picture rolling farmland with cows and I'll do better next time. Ride safe.

Took this pic before we headed out. 20210117_144228~2.jpg

Thanks for this post as it sent us down a rabbit hole of discussion about Tritons yesterday. :) Emerged after an hour of watching YouTube videos and talking about frames, nimbleness, starting systems, and emblems. :cool:Loved it. Thanks.

Managed to get out again yesterday, that made two days on the trot; lovely. Mind an hour riding equated to over an hours cleaning. Still great fun being on the road again. Rain is looking likely for next few days, so won't get out until next week now.

I'd quite happily trade a few hours cleaning for a ride out! Its been 3 weeks or more since I've had a fix

Our roads were heavily salted about a week ago so I decided to take some bits off the SM and get them powder coated satin black.
I wasn't too keen on the plastic looking alloy so took the back brake, gear shifter system, all foot pegs, headlight mount and top yoke. Did a lot of masking off to protect mating surfaces, using a local guy I have used a lot got the lot done in 4 days for £30.
    Really pleased with the results.
When I took the Motone 1 inch up and over risers off I was surprised to find a M10 threaded bolt with no flange of any kind. Once installed only about 14mm actually goes into the riser.
As its an integral part of the bike and failure could be potentially catastrophic I am trying to get a M10×125×70mm flanged bolt which would hopefully give me at least 20mm of thread in the riser.
I had a bit if a mare because I ordered a 37mm socket (as it says in my Haines manual!!) for the steering head bolt as I wanted to torque it up to 90NM but its 38mm...lost what little trust I had in those Haines specifications....
Anyway, I'm waffling....I decided to try the stock risers again but I need risers @Cupoftea are you still making 1 inch risers?
If so they are to fit the 2020 Speedmaster which I think is the standard yoke, with the rubber bungs. Could I get them in black ( satin or gloss) and with a M10x 70mm x 1.25 (thread). Let me know, thanks

Handsome husband said he didn't relish getting cold on a ride again today and was going out to the garage do some maintenance on his T140. He came right back in and said it felt too nice to not go...he didn't have to tell me twice:blush:. I'm working to get more familiar with the bike: its handling, weight, throttle...and the only way to do that is to log miles (not exactly a hardship;)).

Just a quick 60 miles again (because there's only a short window of decent warmth) with a hand warming break in a little town where we saw this flag display.

Nice to see the Brit and American next to each other.

Came back and HH finished taking care of the T140 (changed the transmission fluid after having installed the new clutch cable the other day) while I put in a fire and made us warmed spiced wine with rum. I'd wish for warmer weather but soon enough it'll be hot so I'll just enjoy where we are now. Ride safe.

Great photo, Martine! Thanks for posting it on the forum. Sounds like a delightful ride with HH even if a quick 60. The fire and warmed spiced wine with rum sounds lovely, too. :)
