I decided to test the ambiguity in the rules and go for a ride in the Cheshire lanes......

Thanks @Don the Don / @Vulpes the bike is a very comfortable ride, and which is very steady and confidence building on the road. Ideal for touring or just going for a blast in the lanes, best of both worlds. It is a shame that with the new variants of the tiger coming through triumph are likely to drop the 1050 sport from the range.

I want a (second) bike for two-up touring (the wife refuses to get on the back of speedy again ) and I'm kind of torn between the 1050 sport and the explorer...

I've not ridden the explorer as it is too tall for me. The 1215 engine is awesome, I had the trophy se with the same engine and that was a cracking ride. I would suggest test riding both bikes :):)

I like the commanding up right riding stance of these bikes, I have found that it was best to try various versions as some are higher than others depending on true adventure or touring model.

Me being 6'2 height shouldn't be a problem - test riding is sound advice though...

At 6ft 4"" My problem was not so much the bike but if the bike had luggage, the extra height for me made it a leg stretch over the panniers it's for this reason I hate bulky top boxes,

    Ditto! They are an abomination!!

I am 6’1” and, for me, my Tiger Sport’s ergonomics would take some improving.

Yep the luggage does make life difficult for getting on and off the bike, particularly when virtically challenged like me.. I step on using the foot rest and again when getting off.

Whilst I have satnav, music and phone capability on my bike, I do wonder if the technology advances are now getting out of hand. I will answer calls, but pull over to make calls.

I admit to having satnav because I was getting bored doing the same routes. I have the Tomtom 500 and and it's pretty good kit.

Telephones or anything else that's a distraction, not a chance. I ride to get away from technology.

    .

The fact that you can plan it online against the root files with different devices makes it so much better.

I found so many routes across Derbyshire North Yorks would never even think of doing

After spending most of the day down B roads and back roads I'll occasionally resort to getting the phone out and using the Map App if I need to find a quick or easy way back, but that's as close as I get to technology on a bike. When touring abroad I use a Michelin map kept inside a waterproof map holder fixed on the tank. Stopping to refold the map for the next bit of the journey is just another excuse to get off the bike and admire the scenery.
Using the built in SatNav in the car however is another story entirely!

Bike battery is low, won't start. Can I use a fully charged battery to give it a boost to start?

    Asking for a friend.

(cba disconnecting all the cables to fit the new one)...

You can tell your friend, yep you can jump start from another battery. Could use the car or another bike.
