Just had a Pirelli Diablo fitted to the front wheel of my Thruxton 1200, it took them 1 hour and 20 minutes!, I took the wheel in not the whole bike, when they’d finally done it he said “sorry it took a while, it takes a bit longer with inner tubes “ , now I’ve fitted inner tubes before and I recon it takes approximately 30 seconds, it stopped me complaining though because I was so amazed at the stupidity of his comment that I was lost for words!
Doesn't exactly inspire you with confidence, does it? I'd be wondering whether the person that has done it for the first time has nipped the tube getting the tyre back on................................
What they were actually doing was working on other bikes, I took a walk around the back of the workshop a couple of times and could see my wheel on the tyre changing machine, unattended, the boss is a mate but was away on holiday, I’ll have a word with him when he’s back. I usually get him to do the work on my bikes but didn’t know he’d gone away for a couple of days, I’ll ring first next time!.
Purchased a cheeky little pipe for the speed rs.... Quality of the welding is exquisite. Putting it on tomorrow with k&n air filter too (boring!) I have a carbon heat shield on the way but it’s still not here.
The Pidgeon's have been about again Duck, basics mate you need to protect the areas you do not want spatter, if you do a few practice welds on some spare metal you will get the power and distance right so you do not get so much spatter.
exhaust on and sounding sweet! Coffman exhaust is now for sale but I need to clean it and find the baffle. I broke off the front clip so one is reqd (£10 ish)
I can`t see the gas can with inert gas at your your welding machine...without CO2, Argon or other gas the welding looks ugly..this will not work
Ron's point is that, if the lid latch comes undone while you're travelling, the lid will spring open, catch the full force of the wind and get torn off the box. If you put that one on the LHS (and the other one on the RHS) the lids will then be pushed closed by any wind or motion pressure! And your first thought that "nah, that lid'll NEVER spring open with those latches ...." is entirely wrong.
