Few countryside shots of trip to Glemsford (and back) from Northants on the 9th to see brother who is ill (chose not to go on lawnmower). Back on the 10th. When I got there, the zip on my left boot had broken - couldn't get boot off and so had to cut it off. As a result, needed a new pair and ended up going to The Adventure Bike Shop, Acton Lane, Long Melford. Worth a visit if you are that way - lots of kit in an independent store, hidden away place and run by motorbikers.

These pictures are nothing special but give a flavour of the English countryside at this time of year.

Nice bit of editing there Steve. I particularly liked the way you speeded the film up and used "upbeat" music to make it look like we were exceeding 25mph and I'm really glad you didn't show all those twisty bits where those pesky cyclists kept overtaking us.:)

One of my LED headlight units decided to die, and as I need good lights for my trip to France next week I replaced them with the spares I had lying about.

Nice 100mile jaunt today. :cool:Mixed grill to start and pizza for lunch with a drop :imp: good mix of twisties, straights, and highway return over the hills. Sunny and Cool start, but ended up beautifully warm:sun:

A fellow Speed Triple owner and I rode to lunch at Coyote Pause today. The two of us have been friends for over 20 years and used to be on the same cycling team. I'd never seen his 2006 Speed Triple in person--only photos--though I've seen his other two bikes, a Kawi H2 and KTM Super Duke. We had much cooler temps than typical today which made for a delightful 55-mile ride over Gates Pass and through the desert. It was in the 70's'ºF when we met up for gas and in the mid-80's when we got back on the bikes after lunch. :) The sky was very "overcast", though, which as it turns out was smoke from the massive fires in California. :(

They were seating customers inside (socially distanced and mask wearing mandatory unless you're actually eating) but we elected to sit outdoors in a lovely courtyard behind the restaurant. If you sit in the courtyard, you place your order "to go" and they bring it to you out the back door. Masks are not required outdoors.

Thought we arrived at Coyote Pause at the height of the lunch hour, it was very quiet in the restaurant. And out in the courtyard, we were the only customers.
    IMG_9822.jpeg

Not even any pets were having lunch, though it appears they are welcome! :)

Here's another look at my buddy's beautiful blue Speed Triple. I commented on how much I like the exhaust system and he told me that it's a Trident. He ordered it from a UK company and it was two months until he received it. He keeps talking about selling this bike but he's been saying that for years off and on... I really do think he likes and wants to keep it. ;) I would!

After lunch we took the long way home through Saguaro National Park and back into town over Picture Rocks Pass. Traffic was quite light, temperatures were right, and the ride was an all-around delight. I threw that rhyming last sentence in to see who read all the way through this post. :joy::joy::joy:

    Started washing and polishing Capt!

My Eldest Granddaughter getting married on the 25th and she wants to arrive at the outdoor ceremony on my bike. Side saddle , will be putting some skirts on the back , Son in-law did measure up today. He's an upholsterer , this should make it impossible for her dress to get caught or dirty.
Will post more pictures closer to the day , when skirts are ready.

    cheers capt

Well done.. Hopefully you didn't drill holes in the radiator. Could end badly.

Been raining in soggy Iowa for the past seven days. No chance of riding. Tomorrow forecast moderately dry, so perhaps a spin with Virginia fitted with the new Norman Hyde setup. Started raining the day after install. Really depressed with gray sky and bad news all the day long. Motorcycling is my medicine and no treatments of late.

I'll be round that way later on, probably a run over to the Roaches. Not been on the C&F for years since they put the cameras up. A regular run was the A54 out to Bosley then into Macclesfield and back over the C&F. The route became very high profile in the late 80's/early 90's with quite a few fatal accidents, hence the appearance of the cameras. Prior to the cameras the Police were using a spotter plane in radio contact with bike cops.

The contrast between Iowa and California is amazing. To a lesser extent we have the same wide variation over here with frosts one night and a mini heatwave the next day. There is now, seemingly, no pattern to the seasonal weather and anything goes any time of the year........

The OEM rear carrier on the SS has been bugging me, not so much the weight limit but the size and shape are not very load friendly so decided to knock one up. It can be removed in seconds to refit the seat if required (unlikely in my case). The load limit on the OEM carrier is due to it locating on a plastic bracket but it wouldn't take much to fab up a steel replacement to increase the limit substantially. I didn't really want a large after market rack like the TEC offerings stuck on the back so came up with this which is ideal for me. I had some steel tube lying round from a previous project so it would've cost me nowt if I hadn't made a complete spice shop of the measurements first time round so had to lash out £10 on some new stuff. Let's see,......measure once, cut once, swear lots........ Yeah, got that one wrong!
