Did an oil and filter change on the Striple today. The last one was done at Youles in Manchester. How they got a scaffold pipe on the oil filter to get it that tight i'll never know !

Took my bike to Pattaya Triumph to book its first service (next Tue) and to enable them to fix scratches on the frame from when they initially did the pre-service - so they'll have it for 3 days. Also sat on the new Triumph Rocket 3 - not surprisingly, it felt physically huge and other than the (IMHO - ugly) over sized Monza fuel cap is a truly beautiful bike.
Today and a few evenings this week I have been working on trying to get the seat hump on my 955i Daytona to sit more neatly. Success at the front of the hump, but the back still leaves an unsightly gap. Fiddled with everything I can think of and stuck on what to try next other than actually attaching the plastic undertray with a hacksaw and then rebuilding it to fit. DS

Refitted newly painted front mudguard brackets and short mudguard. Also black engine covers and sprocket cover. Sprocket cover only painted ‘cos can’t get it powder coated just yet. But when I can I reckon the heel plates will be going too!
After a slow couple of days doing other stuff, i now have front brakes on the Daytona that work...yipppeee. They actually bled up really nice. Still got several other jobs to do on it. Enough to fill lock down for a guess
Virginia appears to be fully operational now. The tank of fresh gas and some idle fiddling seems to have settled the old girl. Got my Highsider mirrors from Germany (RevZilla) earlier than expected. The pre-order said COVID was delaying shipment until June, but they showed up on Monday. Huzza! Had to do some fab work to make it all come together, since the spool ends were compression and the bars had threaded inserts. Made a short spool to fit in the bars, changed the thread in the insert to M6X1 and it all bolted up. The previous owner had buggered the thread on left side, so packed the hole with JB Weld and drilled it out to size. Tapped fine. These mirrors are well made and nice design, at least I think so. Following on from essential shopping trip I past by riverside to grab a few pics and a try at sound video, which was cut rather short when i noticed plod turn into road leading down to where I was, swift exit was made.
Made it past the 3000 mile mark on the bike I bought mid summer. During an essential trip for gasket sealer. Been in the 80's temperature for 5 days, and tomorrow the loose lock down is being eased. Due to lack of new cases in my area. Meat shortages are looming as the few mega meat process plants are spiraling out of control with the virus due to cold working temperatures inside and the side by side workers.
Ok not today, but over the last couple of weeks I got around to completing some jobs on the bikes. I finally installed the TTP Safe Start to the Bonneville, and also got rid of the snorkel and fitted a Vortex bellmouth... I also acquired a seat cowl and a new belly pan (to replace the orignal stone chipped one) for the Street Triple... I purchased the Safe Start for the Bonnevile about a year ago, but was a little skeptical about fitting a peice of metal inside the engine just using a chemical weld. But when I fiited it last week, I thought I'd also test the JB Weld on a couple of steel screws, so without cleaning the screws I just coated about an inch of the top of 2 screws and then put them together and left for 24 hours to cure. After curing I tried to break the weld and the screws started to bend but the weld did not break... so after my OCD cleaning and my fastidious application of the JB Weld and Safe Start, I'm now quite satisfied that it realy is going to be a permanent fixture.
There is a vulnerability on 790 and early 865 Bonnevilles where a "kickback" on start can damage the engine case. So TTP produced their Safe Start product to reinforce the idler gear boss and prevent the problem. See: https://www.triumphtwinpower.com/ttp-safe-start.php This is apparently what can happen...
I am also educated now thanks for that @Dawsy, thats a clever little solution and good peace of mind for 100 quid, but does seem a lot for a wee chunk of machined ally, But knowing that is protected is a good feeling.
