Ok, someone needs to explain this one to me I'm afraid o_Oo_O
Why would you fit a grab rail kit if you've just taken off the rear pegs, seems superfluous at that point or am I missing something :confused:

Totally right BUT there's a reason!
I had the sw motech bars on for the topbox givi v56 (that my girlfriend wanted to have to lean onto) but i've only used that once. A bit of a faff to keep removing the underseat bracket tbh.
So, as i really wanted to take them off to clean up the rear, I persuaded her that to have just a grab rail would be ok and that meant I could take the sw bars off and therefore, the pegs.
As they are only 4 bolts to put back on, its not going to take 5 mins to restore.
And, as I want to put panniers on now, the grab bar is perfect as they'll (throwover panniers) not move backwards etc as I can use it as mounting point etc!

Tootled off down to Inverness, in the bloody snow, no less, to get my new tyres fitted. The day got better weather wise, bright, but still bloody cold.

Tyres are Michelin pilot road 5. Very nice tyre, feel much better than the Pirellis I had previous..

Problem though, the bolt in one end of the rear spindle was seized solid, about a cm out, wouldn't go in or out. So I need a new spindle and the end screw/boltamabobs. Temporary fix to get home, mechanic fitted a spacer, but the shopping starts again.... Fowlers or World Of Triumph, you reckon?

Fowlers don't have in stock... But got a second hand ebay one* that looks in good nick, with the fittings, for a tenner. Looks better than what I have, and is £40 cheaper than just the spindle.

Of course, it might be crap,

but I'm thinking positive waves, I'm being righteous and hopeful!

*in keeping with my peasant status.

Still, notwithstanding the cold, it was a good 200 mile round trip. And returning about 45mpg.

It’s always been the other way round for me. Fowlers have only once not had an item I wanted in stock, and they found me an alternative instead. :grinning:
WOT however have taken my online order several times, including payment, then phoned me the next day to say the items are not in stock. It’s then taken them a few days to refund me.

Funny how that happens isn't it? I've used suppliers and had a really bad experience, and yet others have rated them really highly.

I've not had a problem with W. O. T. myself, with the orders they've had. Carriage is interesting, always a courier to here. Couriers and my postcode just don't get on!

Well , yesterday I got around to sorting the main jetting right. Last week I took the sprint apart , tank and side panels off , pulled Tops off the Keihin carburettors , did the vacuum bypass Port drilling. Got it slightly wrong when resetting , didn't lift the needles enough ! Had terrible flat spot @ 6800/7000 rpm , wouldn't rev higher than 7200 in upper 3 gears ! I found some more washers , put 3 Computer standoff fibre washers under each needle and an extra but much thinner one on middle carburettor . Sorted !! Pulls like a train on steroids :) :) :)
Much happier engine now :) and the engine hunting when in gear pulling at low revs ( just off labouring) has almost disappeared ! So vacuum guages might be the next go to ! Get them (carbys) balanced ...! This might finish/sort it all out.

    Cheers capt

Coastal ride to Kaiaua for some fresh air. Tank is definitely 12l.

My new back tyre, infinitely more tyre than there was. Front is the same pattern, Michelin Road 5, GT. By the time I got to Inverness I was on the wear bars.

I get my bonnie back tomorrow from having the carbs sorted by the dealer, but whilst waiting I bought a few bits for it from ebay, a chrome chain guard and headlight brackets, as I do like a bit of chrome

Went to the South of England Show Grounds where they had a Bike jumble and lots of classic bikes on show.

It was really interesting with loads of bikes of my era - KH two strokes, RD’s of every flavour, Wet Dreams, etc. I wish I still had my VT250F...

The food was crap. A charcoal burger and Lidel Super Economy ‘almost’ Coffee. Couldn’t eat or drink it - waste of £8. Thats the truth - inedible non-food, they were taking the pi55!

the stalls were genuinely selling trash and we paid £6 for the privilege of looking at shit.

The only redeeming thing was the ride to and from the place and the classic bikes to look at.

I thought my wife might have had a go one this but she still isn’t interested!

I don’t normally like HD’s but this custom job (I think) didn’t look too bad...
