Featured What you been doing with your TRIUMPH today??

Looks very similar to my mates but his has Arrow cans. Nice bike without doubt but we have both ridden his and my 765.
No argument and we both agreed unanimously: the 765 wins in every department except cost but just not enough benefit to warrant selling his and adding the £6k or so to it.

 

Took another scenic ride to Robin Hood's Bay.

Picking up a nail :-(

 

Decided to put the handlebar risers on my '02 America. With the stock setup, the bars touch the tank if I turn them full lock. I bought some risers several years back, but when I got them they were 7/8". I threw them in my tool box to age a few years . Today I took them out and put them on the drill press. I bored them to 1" and disassembled the old bar and risers. Now I find the holes in the top clamp are slightly too small. So I drilled them slightly to the proper size. Now I see the bolts I have to fasten the are too short. Oh hell ! Go to the hardware store tomorrow ...J.D.

 

Got home from several days up north, my wife shouts a greeting from bed and how she’s missed me and to come upstairs and say hello! I tell her I’ll be there in a mo and that I’ve just got to put something away. Having done that I realise I’ve been away for quite a while and I’m being mean so I rush to say hello, I open the door and look with love in my eyes, god I’ve missed you but which of you am I going to take out first tomorrow, tracey or Doris? With a sigh I close the garage door then gather my dirty laundry and traipse upstairs to say hello to the wife

 

Hi Eldon, i was referring to the ride quality, the rs was stiff as a board..... my missus 675 is absolutely perfectly set up for the road.
Perfect power for the road, looks dated now but still a handsome machine.
So my and wor lasses unanimous conclusion was exactly what you said...... is the new one 6000 pounds better, for us......absolutely not.

Could Maybe have something to do with our 675 being 11 years old and 16000 miles of usage.
Its just a perfect little bike.

Agree regarding the 765rs back end but the front end can be a little harsh on small imperfections.
Set up can play a big part on any bike.
I've rode three different 675s.
1/ A none R was no good for me as it was a non-adjustable pogo stick and squidgy at speed although probably perfectly fine and comfort plush at slower speeds.
2/ An R model that must have been set up for the track and it was like riding on a rock. Pretty naff on normal roads.
3/ Mates bike is an R and that's firm but not harsh.

The 675 was an excellent bike in its day and still presents a good second-hand buy now. Some things have moved on but not in massive leaps and bounds to justify the significant expense difference. .

If it was rutting season, and the deer was actually a stag then it may have mistaken your bike (or you) as a play thing... seems likely you have had a narrow escape on both fronts!

 

My Aqua B25 back pack arrived today from CMC Motorcycles. Retail price was £64.99 but I only paid £32, half price right result. I'm now ready for the GMU, travelling light.

I'm not a lover of wearing rucksacks on motorbikes but have the 30 litre duffel bag from the same range and think these are great.
I put my sleeping bag in a waterproof liner as double insurance but all my clothes have remained dry even after 10 hours of constant rain.

Good choice.

Yep I have the 50l roll pack that I’ve had for a couple of years and that is really good, which is why I went for this one...

 

I am thinking of tinting the headlight on my speed twin. im sorry but you have to put the headlight back on straight if it was my bike that would really bug me.

 

Installed a new battery. For some reason the old one (a year old) died on me from one moment to the next for no apparent reason.

I did the gear oil idea on mine.
First set of lights I pulled up to be overtaken by a cloud of eau de gear oil flavour
The excess nicely falls off onto the cat for prompt cooking... umm didn't think I'd over done it but will be more mindful next time.

 

Right bloody bob1, I just spent 40 minutes on this, it was the Triumph headlight thingy inside the lamp, cajoled it into being straighter, still a few mill pissed but better

However, in my haste buggered up the yellow film so will be re-doing that tomorrow

Fitted my satnav mount and run the power cable to the aux socket.
