Added a couple of accent plates to the rear frame to balance up the rest of the bike...looked a bit odd with just the headstock and seat.

Tricky why the double rear caliper set up as I've only seen that before on stunt bikes?

Basically because the original rear brake didn't work very well at all...better using the Fred Flintstone version;)
So tried various master cylinders and pads but just found the brake wooden so thought i would try a Harley MC which kind of worked but still lacking due to the MC caliper mismatch so in order to get the ratio right i just added another caliper and it now works very well.

Spray tins of furniture polish e.g. Mr Sheen in the UK, are very good at removing chain lube from back wheels. Also makes a decent emergency hand cleaner if you get oil and/or grease on them.
Enjoying your pictures and comments about your trip, Capt.
Hadn't realised that the Japs had landed in Australia during WW11, much less that they had bombed Darwin. I guess I shouldn't be surprised though when I think about it.
    Keep up the good work.:)

One of the younger members of the Fosse Riders led a group ride to Isaac Newtons birthplace near Grantham, a national Trust Property. A very interesting place to visit with lots to play with science wise and a coffee shop.
The Trophy played up by not wanting to start, a squirt of WD40 into the switches seems to have sorted it.

.... then I realised that I didn't take any pictures, so it obviously didn't happen.
    Sometimes I get really confused.
What the hell did I do all afternoon?:worried: Answers on a postcard please using your local carrier pigeon service.
    I thank you.:)

The Naps never landed. They flew long range bombing missions from Singapore and surrounding islands and from Aircraft carrier's. I just wasn't aware that they had attacked so much of Northern Australia over a period of approximately 18 months :(
I thought there was only a couple of raids on Darwin and some sea battles such as the sinking of HMAS Sydney off the coast of WA , near Geraldton (by German ship Kormoran) were the only really serious threats to the Australian main land. There was the miniature submarine attack in Sydney Harbour but that wasn't very successful.

Took my Speed Triple for it's first MOT. Shameful how few miles I've done on it. So few it's not long ago had the first set of Supercorsa's replaced. So MOT went fine, only comment from tester was to get the original number plate hanger tidied up! So I went home and installed the Evotech tail tidy that had been sitting on the garage shelf for a couple of year! Took some dusting off.

Also fitted an R&G ShockTube to my Tiger 800.

Decided my DIY attempt at luggage frames are crap. So a week and a bit ago i order a set of H&B pannier frames. Bit of a fiddle and a few mods to make it fit with the Triumph rack. At the same time, deciding my old Aluminum panniers have more dents and dings with different fixing holes(more hole than a Tea bag) in the backs have served me well over the last 15 odd years. So at the same time as ordering my frames, i ordered a new pair of Tusk panniers from the States. Well if the last ones last 15 years why change the make?. But i wanted them like my old ones. (unpainted). They only sell them in a blue/grey painted colour these days. A pricey phone call to them sorted that out with a $65 discount for unpainted ones. Even with the delivery and Tax, they came out cheaper than European made ones. They came quicker than the frames that only had to come from Germany. How come i can receive a delivery in just over a week from the USA when i have waited longer for a package from up North. So with the 52ltr Ebay top Box, i have now got a pair of 40ltr and 36ltr sized panniers fitted. ( Small and large in Tusk sizes). They work out about 6" wider each side of the handlebars ( going to be fun filtering between the cars). Thinking of putting wide load warning lamps on them. Anyway along with a 40ltr Lomo dry bag should do me for a 2/3 month tour or my week camping tour of Dorset/Devon at the end of this month.

A smaller bore MC would have given you more leverage but now you have two calipers the stroke (pedal travel) for the required volume may be excessive.

I once played with various diameter MC's and brakes on a landrover and it was an interesting and educational experience.

Now the MC vs caliper is pretty much spot on to give feel and good braking...got all the tables for getting the correct ratios and the feel they give.

Well Ron, you now have achieved magnificence!
It is amazing how much better a bike feels when it is set up & dialled in for you, people spend thousands on performance enhancing mods but ignore the handling & set up, they just end up with a faster wobbly bus that won't go round corners!

Well, been in Darwin for a full day now, done nothing with 'capt' my 2009 America, but tomorrow morning nice and early off to the NT Triumph dealership to get a new chain fitted and a simple service, engine oil and the K&N air filter cleaning. All good apart from wear an year items, back tyre might be able to last the whole trip , fingers crossed. As next Triumph dealership in Geraldton 3,700 odd klms away. Will visit my Brother's , one rides HD Fatboy, other rides a Victory 8 ball. Went on a tour "bombing of Darwin" was really good and informative.
Darwin and the NT are very bike friendly , bike's of all sizes and ages everywhere..!
Hopefully good news tomorrow and no bad surprises to come.

Done my bit of customization on the panniers today. The lids at the right angles are just like Archimedes mirrors in the sun. Forgot how shiny Aluminum panniers when new.
