It's a cracking road to Oban,did you do the loop round to Inveraray? we will be doing that loop next week as part of the Forums Scottish road trip

 

took my Daytona 955 out on Friday and picked up a rear wheel puncture on a tyre with about 200 miles on it it is in the centre of the tyre so going to get it plugged.

 

Yes, the back road down from Oban to Kilmartin is one of he best ever, lots of corners of every type, attack mode!

 

The whole loop is brilliant If you're from Scotland you have to do it at least once a year

 

Cleaning today. Caught in the rain at the weekend whilst at the MCN show in Peterborough.
Certainly can't leave it too dirty.

 

Being a bit OCD I was never happy with the rad overflow hose hanging below the frame spine. Dont know if this is the way Triumph meant it to be or another example of their hit and miss build quality. So after running the tank into reserve on my last ride I decided to pop the tank off and re-route the hose through the fairlead that carries the brake lines.





I have managed to load the same pic twice and despite my best efforts I can't get the 'editor' to allow me to delete it!

 

Thankfully I didn't drop it, rather I laid it down as I realised the side stand wasn't going to help me.
I would have been gutted if put a mark on it. However after riding motorcycles most of my life I know sooner or later it will be, lets say, less than pristine. But these things are meant to be ridden, not wrapped in cotton wool.

 

Home from work this afternoon, out with the Speedy, quick shower then went to the Henstridge airfield bike night, held on the last Wednesday of each month through the spring and summer, where, should you so wish, you can rag your bike down the runway. Ignore the second picture, that's Haynes motor museum on Sunday but can't delete it

 

Went down to my dads via loomies then an ice cream in stokes bay, where I saw a spitfire do a fly past.! Got a rant but I’ll save that for another post

Put another 60 miles on the speed twin, nearly there for its first service next Tuesday. Then pulled out the LT and got the front brake pads done. Just need the tyres now before my June trip to Northern Ireland.. what a great summers day for riding..

Took Tigger to work again as the weather was sunny/dry. There’s a nice little red 675 in the hotel car park keeping Tigger company. I’ll try to get a photo but it’s right in front of the breakfast room, and it’s a bit weird taking pictures of strangers’ bikes...

Not done anything yet, still waiting for the left hand drill bit I ordered a week ago. Next working day delivery my ass!

 

Re-fitted the pannier rails this morning.
We went to Attingham Park at Shrewsbury last week and realised a picnic would have been nice, hence rails now back on and panniers ready and waiting

 

Fitted new front discs and put thro MOT retest ...... passed

 

The left hand drill bit turned up eventually today and I managed to get the broken thread out and a new bolt and copper washer into my Daytona.
Filled with coolant and fitted the new Motobatt battery then the moment of truth......and there was nothing.
Luckily I quickly found that the clutch switch connector had come apart. Phew, a simple fix.
Try again and the engine spun over with no nasty noises and the oil pressure light went out.
Temp fitted the tank and tried again and she burst into life first go.
Idling pretty good but I’ll do a throttle body balance then put the rest back together when I get back from the TT.
It’s been a good day, well until my old laptop with Tuneecu on it decided to die C’est la vie! We’re off to IOM on Sunday so who’s boverred.

 

Did my least favourite job today on both bikes, cleaned and oiled the chains.

Nice day though, pulled both out of the garage, had the radio on, mug of tea and thought to myself that life could be a lot worse!

 

And sure enough, it got a lot worse!!

 

Well, today ,, I won't be doing too much to the America , as it's Saturday and done just over 2,500 of the 5,500 odd klms of our trip to Darwin., We did exactly 255klms on 19 litres of fuel yesterday ! We ran out and motor stalled just 20 odd feet short of the fuel Bowser !!!! Filled & put exactly 19 litres in !! Today will be a shop to refill the food chest (110 ltd Esky) and wash and inspect the bike, as the low fuel light didn't come on. Bike had tank off for valve adjustment two weeks before our trip start !! Loose wire me thinks . us in Karijini national Park Yesterday.
Now in Port Hedland, and by f¥©K are those mile long ore Trains NOISY !!

Just used Google maps, 2,399 klms to go Yip Yip Yahoo, just over half way !! And the only gripe with the bike ! Low Fuel Warning light *
Otherwise all is as it should be, bike getting dirty and wearing tyres out LOL

 

Good ride out with the MC to a seaside town of Raglan (140km). Well known for its surf and boho culture.
Twisties were fun, but a little dangerous with fine grit on most corners and some lichen through the tree covered hills.
