    If the filter is anything like the speed triple there’s very little access and a proper filter tool is the best way to remove the old one and torque the new one up correctly. Haven’t seen under a street triple so don’t know what the access is like.

    @crispey

    I was going out yesterday, good weather, the thing is it was my first day off the road for 10 days, with work and Rugby so I stayed in and did very little.

    Cleaned the front brake calipers and then bled them, flushing enough fluid through to effectively change it completely.
    Also flushed new fluid through the clutch.
    Both systems now feel much better.
    Next up will be the back brake - didn't have enough time today as it entails removing the rear bodywork. Hopefully I will get it sorted at the weekend.
    Getting really pissed off with my body though:mad:. I'm sure it shouldn't ache like it does after a bit of spanner wielding. I suppose it serves me right for falling off the side of my wagon all those years ago. Good job the floor was there to break my fall!:)

    If thats the case, best bet is a cup spanner and drill 2 holes and screw in a couple of tec screws into the filter its a bit messy but better than poknig something ( like a big screwdriver ) through the filter as they tend to have a nasty habit of going through the sump causing a real mess.

    I've got one of these - access is restricted on a Speed Triple.

    Ended up in Bishops Waltham - on my way back to the bike I remembered meeting a well known member of this forum some years ago in the same place!

    Thats exactly what I was meaning ........ if the filter has been fitted too tight and / or no lubrication on the seal they can be Very difficult to remove.
    So a couple of holes drilled in the bottom so you can put tec type roofing screws into the filter through the cup spanner will usually shift them.

    Messy but cheaper than a new sump!

    Straight down the 701 to Moffat but the pics are heading NE on the A708 Moffat to Selkirk road or the unclassified single track via Meggett and Talla reservoirs over to Tweedsmuir.

    Not sure exactly when he was there, used to work with him 2005-2010 ish, and knew he was there for quite a while in the 90's, I know he was on Sir Galahad when it got hit in the Falklands.
