No offence taken, folk gotta live somewhere... some are just burdened with a reasonable estate to manage, rather than the backstreets of some northern slum town. I rarely resent anyone for their position. That’s just how life is presented to us and the results of our own decisions. It’s how they use their positions that counts.

I once helped out at a charity ball in Bigland Hall, must have been about 1984/5... and it was my first real eye opener as to how the “other half” live. I wore the best suit I could borrow and served Bucks Fizz and champagne all night. I was taught how to open and pour the champers properly etc.
I don’t know how much they made for charity, but it must have been significant... ‘cos I came away with a pocketful of cash just from tips... they did a raffle where they all wrote their names on a tenner, put them into a hat and the winners name was pulled out... all the money was then donated.

I know the hall has changed hands since then, not sure if it was sold or has become a “managed estate” or even both. But it’s pleasant up there, nice trout fishery; I know the owners of the trekking and horse riding business; they run clay pigeon shoots etc. It all goes to keep that little area of Cumbria pretty without bloody Great big wind turbines stuck all over it.

    :)

    WHAT'S I BEEN DOING,
Uncovered bike thought I would give it a good coat of polish but when I pushed it out the garage I thought it needs a wash especially the wheels on further examination of the wheels it was corrosion and road shit felt like sandpaper to the touch, So sprayed them down with a de-greaser and soap solution while I filled the bucket with water left them 10 mins and washed nothing came off what a job washed three times and still looked rough.(pics after washing)
I went indoors to seek advice from you tube, fair bit of info there but one in particular to wet the wheels and put a small amount of Soap Powder on your hands and wash them with dry powder on wet wheels and to my surprise it lifted a lot of the shit clean away, Up on the lift it went and got down to some proper cleaning with Mothers Ali cleaner and my favourite Solvol, few hours of fun later all is well in the world, finished off with a good coat of polish.

Hack Driver asked - Would you mind providing a link to the YouTube video showing how to use the dry soap powder? You got a fantastic result!!

There you go looks simple but worked got most of the grime and road shite off
(Please note though needed some elbow grease afterwards to actually clean Ali rims)

A bit of time after work this evening so I fit the Free Spirits pillion peg finishers and SW Motech skid to the SC. Looks the business and hope the skid keeps some gravel off the underneath. It was already starting to get roughed up with only 1500 on the clock.

Our mountain roads are covered with gravel and sand year round, so I hope this will at least slow it down a bit! I could hear the bigger pieces pinging off the catalytic converter cover pretty often.
