No I'm hoping to get the whole bolt out. Just need to find some Blu-Tack!

 

I snapped a clamp bolt end of last year.
local heat would be a great option, Consider riding it to a garage where they could use a gas nozzle to apply limited heat to the bolt alone?

 

Unfortunately its in pieces and has no MOT so not an option. I'm determined to do it myself!

 

in the past with these rounded off things Ive got the next size up torx bit or allen key insert and hammered it into the bolt tighten a little first then try to loosen as the bolt is already shagged when its out you can replace it

 

I know not if it is true, but apparently some say that Coca Cola makes a mighty fine penetrating fluid!
Got to better than drinking the bloody stuff!
Having said that, this was all said several years ago, before the pc brigade and the environmentalists got their grubby, interfering paws on the stuff.

Well I managed to get my stuck allen bolt out of the clamp. Helped by the impact driver I forgot I had, a T45 and a T50 torx bit. It was stuck because it is slightly bent!

So I got the right fork leg out and have just got to get the seal out - it is fairly stubborn at the moment! The fork oil was rather grubby though and I'm sure it is not meant to be that colour!

Good job put something on the bolts when they go in copperslip or threadlock blue not alot just a prophylactic layer.

Yep clamp saved thank goodness! And was going to Copaslip the new one - especially as they are over £6 a pop! The others will get the same treatment too.

I've done my fork oil's on several bike's I have owned, the oil that came out always seems to be about that colour ! I think it's because the stantions are hard chrome and nikasil plated and the lower fork legs are Aluminum Alloy, if you leave the oil change's go for Too long the oils are like black water !!

don't forget if you use a lubricant on the threads you'll need about 20% less Torks

 

Washed the bike then removed pannier/back- rack to gave the paint work a freshen up with matt black spray.
Gave the chain a good clean and re-lube,also re-adjustment.......
