Curses I've been found out!

 

Went out for a ride came back and washed it properly, cleaned and waxed the chain.

 

Had some decent weather finally so hit the twisties on Roan Mountain in Tennessee. First really long ride on the bike and loved every minute!

 

Saturday was beautiful down on the South Coast but other commitments meant no ride
Managed to get out Sunday, roads damp and full of salt early on but dried enough for a bit of fun on way back from Loomies, first ride since October & loving the buzz of riding the Street RS again. Spent nearly as long cleaning the bike as I did riding it, then discovered I had a puncture as after cleaning could see/hear the little pin hole right in the centre of the tyre, bugger!
Still tyre has done 2600 miles although it still has a bit of life left think I'll just stick a new one on rather than repair.

 

And you call yasell Bad Billy !! Come on plug it Bill and use the rest of the tyre's tread up having fun, Cant understand wasting some tyre tread and changing out sooner than you have to other than going on a long trip.

Are you using the Supercorsa's that come standard on the bike

 

Yes still on first tyre, mainly down to the fact that the first 1000 miles was running in, not sure whether to stick another SC on or try a Rosso Corsa, probably will go SC and change for a set when the front needs changing. Don't intend doing any track days so the SC is overkill really.

I used 2 sets of Supercorsa's on my 16 Speed Trip and then tried the new Rosso 3's as i found the Supercorsa's go off as they age which is down to there track focused rubber mix, the new Rosso 3 is the same tall profile as the SC but has a more road focused rubber mix so will not go off with age. The Rosso 3's just req a little longer to warm up.

 

Suggest you give Metzeler M7RR's a try.

 

Thanks for the info, will probably switch to Rosso 3's when I need a pair as Pirelli have given me the most confidence over the years.

 

Thanks Col, I have used Metzeler (race tec I think?, very similar to SC) back when I was doing lots of track days & found them very good for the track. Sorry for ignorance but are M7RR road or track biased?

 

Primarily road (but I would think good for track too)

Just remember Metzeler is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pirelli and many tyres from the same stable are closely related in their R&D but marketed in different price sectors. It is a way of shifting the most product as profitably as possible.

 

Might have a look at those as just seen the prices for the Super Corsa SC's ... ouch!
Mind you I haven't had to buy a tyre for a couple of years but last time I am sure I only paid £110 fitted, had a quick look on line and they seem to be around the £140-£160 mark for supply only.

 

Oponeo do free post and they have one listed at 129.00 (rosso 3 that will go with your front ok)

 

Just Google reviews for them, you'll find they're highly regarded by better riders than me.

Thats not how I remember the Halfway house from my misspent youth, the times my mates Triton two up would get clutch slip just short of the Ton.

May I suggest the Stop n Go from Amazon - £35.00 carry it with you and can plug most punctures with no mess. Just need the Air capsules to inflate the tyre to a rideable pressure
