MOT time for the Bonnie yesterday.
Waiting in reception when the tester came out to ask if he could have a "little chat" about my bike. At first I thought he was going to fail it - was it the TORs pipes, the smaller number plate?
Turns out he just wanted to chat about the mods I've made, especially the bars, the relocated ignition switch and the seat cover!
Wagged his finger over the fact that I have no rear reflector (meant to fit it for the test but forgot) but passed it anyway.

 

That was blimmin quick

Wot? Soggy?

 

Bit of a clean for the Tiger today. Changed the rear wheel and number plate and loaded it into the van ready for tomorrow.

Saturday night special at Santa Pod, track open till 8pm so racing into the dark.
And at £35 for the day (+£12 admission) it would be rude not to!!!

An end of season play day and a chance to meet up with some of the Straightliners crew I raced with last year.

Splendid!

 

Taking the Bonnie for it's MOT this morning.

I was going to the Stafford show tomorrow but due to a calendar related problem I can't now make it. A bit of a bummer but it will no doubt save me a fair bit of cash.

Popped to Loomies for a cuppa, then off to the Departure Lounge for a fry up.

 

Ride out to Wye Valley and then Iron Horse Cafe near Abergavenny with my bike club. Good attendance with 40 bikes turning up. BTW, that’s my new Explorer up front.

 

Just been round to pick my wheels up with new Avons fitted
Strictly come dancing has just come on the TV so I'll go into the garage and refit them and hopefully this will improve the handling of my BPOS
Oh no just been handed some sandwiches/cake/biscuits and a mug of coffee
Strictly's not that bad....is it?

On the way into London this morning on the A40, filtering between standstill traffic (two lanes) when the moped in front of me starts shouting at the van driver to his right for not moving over. Totally over the top, van driver can move over out of courtesy but a rider has no right to demand tight of way. At this point the traffic is moving slowly forward, the van stops but the moped goes #*smack*# straight into the back of the lorry that is in front of the van...at walking speed but all the same it was a bit of a crunch but I pissed myself laughing and the van driver just shook his head and smiled. The moped rider just sat there realising he had made a right cock of himself.
It is on my camera but the angle is too far down and pointing at my clocks, I have now adjusted this.

Five minutes later I get pulled over by the old bill, first words are "sorry chap, it's pick on bikers day" no problem I thinks, everything is in order so I just be polite and go through the motions. This is along a road where the police camp up once a week and either speed check or random pull drivers to check licenses, insurance etc.
2 min after giving him my license he hands it back and I am on my way.
Now, if I had been an arrogant git, a bike thief, hauling drugs, drunk or committing any number of offenses I would have been banged to rights, so I am very happy to have been pulled over and checked
Nothing to hide, nothing to worry about.

Hmm not sure I totally agree with just random stopping by the police. Whilst I understand the "nothing to hide, nothing to worry about" it strikes me that this is a slippery slope and erosion of our civil liberties! Just my humble opinion.
