Been on a trackday at Donington. Had a bit of a panic as I couldn't get the rear valve cap off and had to rip the valve out and have a new one fitted. Still, a good day once I got out there!

Just had new front Avon Cobra tyre fitted today, so home tonight to fit wheel back, fit new brake pads into freshly cleaned and greased (red rubber grease on pistons, before pushing back) caliper, with a fine coating of ACF50, to keep it corrosion free for another year.

EBC HH pads just delivered, so can get it sorted tonight.

Avon Cobra's on the front and rear, so roll on decent weather and get out and scrape some pegs !!!:D

    Argh!

No pressure at brake lever now!!! Only pushed pistons in, to fit new pads, now no pressure, tried bleeding, but that's not working!!!

Fluid was high, so pulled some out before trying to bleed, was running over.

Just getting no pressure??? Pumping and bleeding loads, making no difference. Mates on his way home, calling in to help me pump and bleed.

Did you remove the reservoir cap and thoroughly clean the pistons before pushing them in ?
In theory you should not have to remove any brake fluid unless you have been topping up the reservoir as the pads have been wearing.
The only suggestion I can make is that the pistons have been pushed right in to allow for the new pads and have become stuck or out of sequence to each other.
It's just too simple an hydraulic system for much else to go wrong.
I would take the caliper back off and see if the pads are moving when you squeeze the brake gently.

Started topic in technical help. Pistons cleaned and red rubber grease before pushing in. Pistons are moving in and out OK. Removed pads and put a block of wood in, so I could look see. Suspect master cylinder flipped seals or just buggered.

That sounds like a bit of coincidental bad luck if it is the master cylinder.
I take it everything was working okay before the new pads were fitted ?
I would take the pads out and see if there are any visible leaks around the pistons.
Bastard when something like this goes wrong on a straightforward maintenance job.

Pads were low, so pistons quite far out, think due to amount of fluid pushed back into reservoir, it's upset a seal and now fluid getting past. Just bit of bad luck, bloody annoying, but not end of world.

Yep, done that. Hope it will do it, but doubt it.
Probably have to strip master cylinder, hopefully just a twisted seal or something, rebuild kit is £27, so not end of the world, just a pain in the arse

I fitted EBC HH pads to mine last week as the brakes felt really vague, not at all sharp. I had come to the conclusion that the previous owner had probably sprayed the bike with something for protection like FS365 and got some on the brakes.

The EBC pads are superb, the brakes are now crisp and sharp.

Last weekend did the clutch adjustment but haven't properly tested high revs to see if the adjustment is correct. Hopefully we might get some good weather soon to test it out.

This weekend some soldering to do. Few months ago I installed Healtech Brake light modulator. I think the wires are playing up and stops the brake light from working. The reason I think the connections are an issue is because when I pull the wires out from undertray, they seem to work fine. So I am thinking some wires are kinked and doesn't have a solid connection. I am going to strip it off and solder and heat shrink them and see what happens.

Sorry guys and girls, been quiet lately. South Essex seems to alive with scum as my Speedy went for a ride, without me, last night. Van waiting around the corner no doubt. Disturbed by alarm and by the time you get sorted it's rolling down the road, alarm wailing and lights flashing.

    ^^^^^ AAAAAARRRRHHHHH.

I am really sorry to hear this buddy. I know how you feel. Few years ago my Fireblade 954RR was stolen from me.

These scums needs to be taught a lesson they will never forget.

Was your bike garaged mate? Did you manage to get any descriptions?

Poor old Speedy had to live on the drive. As today has developed, son has caught wind from a friend (who was offered the bike for£200!) that is at a house not two miles or so away, also have three names of the four perps.. Told plod, in person, seemed a little disinterested. Son is camped out in the road (it's quite long) hoping they may try to move it at some point.

Plod is never interested gather a few buddies or bikers around you and confront the situation don't give them time to strip down your bike. Firm but fair approach to begin with then if out gets out of control phone plod and tell them your safety is in danger and you want them to attend immediately.

This kind of thieving bastards are never to far from where we all live !!

cheeky bastards. why don't you get him to take up the offer, tell the police you are going to buy a stolen bike, then they might do something, when you buy it they'll probably try and do you for being in possession of stolen goods so be prepared!!
