Spot on with your guess little ade.
I think 'had' as opposed to 'have' may have given you too much of a clue

    Very fair comments little ade.
This time round I started looking at older British bikes with a view as an investment, bit of nostalgia and something to take out on Sunday rides and tinker with.
Speaking with biker friends and remembering some of the unreliability issues of the older bikes, I opted for a 2012 Bonneville efi not knowing much about them really.
It is used almost daily and I would say is the best bike I have ever owned and ridden.
Previous bikes: Fantic moped, Honda CD 175, Honda 250k2, Triumph Daytona 500, Yamaha XS 500, BMW R80, BSA M42, Norton Dominator 88 & 99SS
I have a few pics somewhere which I will post.

Took my Street Twin in for the recall modification to the wiring loom, saw the new Street Cup for the first time, looks a nice little bike, but at K8.5 rather pricy, also checked out the engine bars or dressers, might get some in due course.
Couldn't resist going for a blatt on the way home, did a 50 mile run in the freezing cold, and then washed, dried, and WD40'd the bike.
Got me back in the mood after Christmas.

Got out for the first proper ride, excellent bike, light responsive builds confidence, found myself rounding corners 10 mph faster before I realised.the fairings actually really good for cold fingers aswell. Heres the first photo (clean).

Also phoned the dealers to ask about needing to bleed brakes connected to diagnostic computer, as mentioned in Haynes so as to open and close solinoid.Mechanic says no need and just bleed as normal, so there you go.

I've always sprayed the engines of all my bikes with WD40 after washing and have never had any problems with corrosion. Having said that I don't spray it near any bearings, but coating a sealed engine unit is fine in my opinion.

Thanks for the film, I just spray generally under the bike, there are many dewatering products on the market, I think regular cleaning and a squirt of WD40 around the frame and ht leads does the job.
Used WD40 for ever, but as you say, there are more alternatives these days than there used to be. I don't use the bikes for daily commute these days, so mainly a fair weather rider.

Out near Loomies this morning so had to call in at 10.30 am for a bacon roll and a cup of tea.
    Only one there!
Rewarded with an empty A272 almost all the way back to Winchester.

Having got caught in the downpour yesterday on my way home from my volunteer job, the bike looked a bit sorry for itself, so had to give it a clean today, panels off panniers off and gentle hose down then ACF 50 AGAIN :) and she is good to go. Weather looks set to be cold again so no doubt the council will be out salting the bloody roads AGAIN :), hey ho. Ride safe all :)

Got Tracey out from under her cover and Adjusted the chain, changed rear brake pads and replaced Garmin for tomtom rider, rewire etc. Back wheel looked absolutely mank so gave her a good wash down re-applied fs365 and took her out for a run and tea at Newlands corner.
    Having doubts about rider 410.

    Supposed to snow tomorrow though.

This afternoon Paul9908 (new member here) and I joined up with some other lads from Oakley MC to form the 'escort' for a former member's funeral cortege, me on my black Street Twin and Paul on his black Street Triple.

Before that I polished my bike and popped on a couple of mods - brown bench seat, optimiser lead, knee pads, and bar end mirrors (Oxford's £19.99 inc postage off Ebay). Pics below. Not so sure the mirrors look quite right, but at least with these you can see what's on the road behind you, unlike the purely decorative ones on stalks that come with the bike. Still got heated grips, sump guard and mudguard extension to fit.

Penelope is in bits again. Waiting parts. Fitting a new hose from the water pump to the thermostat housing. Fitting new clips on the rubbers on the carb to engine. Rubbing down downpipes to repaint in matt black. Fitting new rad as the old one was damaged before I got her by a power washer damaging the fins. Should give me plenty to do over the winter. :)
