Fixed front brake light which failed inexplicorably a couple of days ago. Had to cut and extend the wires to stop switch on brake lever, old ones looked like they had snapped by the spade connectors so new spades too, jeez a spend of 99p, some old wire and insulation tape. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Good to hear, you are safe and sound Mark!
Snow shoveling going on down in the street; so I'll have to postpone pick up of my dear Bonnie...

    Safe ride to everyone!

First trip out in the new year. Had to get something from town and petrol so Loomies seemed obvious .
Lovely Norton and a Soviet combination there.

Went out yesterday on my BonnieSE with figwold (Street Cup) and mate Paul (Street Triple) for a 72 mile ride incorporating some A and B roads and country lanes. Martin's second time out, first was in fog, this one we caught a few nasty bum-twitching frosty sections, but all good fun, and part of the learning experience :) Had a nice tea and cakes break at Woodford Mill tea rooms, Ringstead. Bloomin' cold mind you. A wee clip below.

Sorry - had to delete my earlier pictures of the Norton and the Russian bike. I really must take my glasses with me!

Went for a short spin on the old gal today. Same run as yesterday, about 15 miles, yep I am a wimp but I got things to do coz of moving home, much better ride today. OK I know I am getting on a bit and the nerves are frazzled but yesterday I was doing ok until I came to an island to turn right and there was heaps of salt and grit just where I wanted to be. Where the fick did the guy go who rode every day no matter what and probably never thought of the consequences of coming off and kneeing the kerb. Please excuse , FUKK me I am getting old ( sorry, GOT).

    Nice pictures Steve.
Looks like a Dominator 99 SS twin carb 600cc in a slimline featherbed frame.

Good spot Mike, but a 650 cuz the 600 had been discontinued by this time (thanks go to Auntie Google for the info). DVLA records it as a 650cc first registered July 1965 which would make it a 650SS slimline Featherbed Dommie, the best of the lot, even better than my '58 Avatar.

According to Wiki "In February 1962 Motor Cycling magazine achieved a best one-way speed of 119.5 mph at MIRA with a 650SS, more than 10 mph faster than the rival Triumph Bonneville tested the previous summer." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norton_650SS

I wondered about it being a 650SS cuz of the registration. It was the bike I really fancied as an early teenager, but then got seduced by the Commando. Never owned either btw, just a dreamer.

No dreaming here, I actually had a 88 and a 99SS, so put that in your pipe and smoke it! lol

Fukk me youre a clever bunch, lol.
One thing Rich, do you believe the road tests?????? 120 0n a 650 then and not a Bonnie, mmmmmm probably not in the real world
My first ride on a big un was a Commando 750 the day after passing my test on a starfire........................KINELL, that was power. Never owned one tho and couldnt afford one now. Always preferred the 750 to the later ones tbh

Ooooh, soooo envious. I know it's hard to tell, but any idea what I'm sitting on? I can't tell if it's an 88 or a 99. I believe it's all about counting the fins. It's registration is '58 so could be a 99.

@ Dave, Colorado Norton do a modernisation on the Commando - take an original then efi, modern brakes and stuff, but still looks original. A guy in Holland does similar using Colorado parts. When I win the lottery I'm having a yellow one. Reminder to self, buy lottery ticket, and dream on.

I've just given myself a right headache trying to count the fins, have you got a clearer pic. ?
If not, it can be whatever bike you want it to be Rich, nobody will ever know.

Best I can do. The original is in a box in my daughter's garage. We'll call it a 99 then ;)
