Looked at a Suzuki Bandit 1250 today, I like the idea of Europe next year.
Only I couldnt give up the handling of the RS, I would be downed if I sold and ended up with a heavy lump and a larddy a"se. Must say the deals are good though I do wonder why.

Similar story here, I've had one 1250 and (only) three 1200's.
Although I have owned the last one on three separate occasions and have had it for about 10 years now, since I last bought it back.
In fact it's just passed 20 years old, so qualifies for Suzuki's classic insurance now.

I found the 1250 very bland, did everything well, but no real character.

the 1250 wouldn't trump the 1200 for hp though:D, which is probably part of the 1250's problem......

The 1250 is newer, and so I feel happier about spending the money If you look at other marks you see much higher miles across the board Tiger, Sprint GT, Honda VFR, this suggests to me the riders are finding it more difficult to stay off them.
The GSF 1250 is described frequently as lardy and heavy. if the old bandit is nicer then it does not answer my needs cos its older and so defeats the purpose of buying. I may have to wait till nearer Spring and go for a Sprint GT

The 1250 I looked at was 2010, 5000 miles , and 5 count them 5 owners. Did none of them want to ride it?

Or keep the RS for fun. cheers DD

Not sure whether the Sprint 900 and the Tiger 1050 are compatible...
17 squid is of course a bargain. Triumph's price is laughable but there are plenty other manufacturers out there who treat us as cash cows and want £100 and more. MADNESS!

Maybe I was a "bit" harsh on the 1250? For lapping up miles on a European tour. It would be a good bike. If boring & bland equals all day comfort & reliability? Then I guess I could forgive it's complete lack of soul/character?[/QUOTE]

Yep I could forgive that too for comfort. only for short hops I would regret selling the RS and getting something less.
    the search goes on

No I know the Sprint ones wont fit a Tiger, was just saying as a price comparison and in case anyone with a Trident ,Sprint 900, mk1 speedie ? wanted some. The clutch on my bike is hydraulic unlike all later Triumphs

    got it
checked your link; only I think its to old ( not to own, to replace the one I have which I consider excellent condition and equal to a 2006 2007 bike anyway) my head is feed up looking and if my heart gets its way who knows what i will end up with. The bandits are great bikes and if I could have all I want I would definitely have one. I may have to go for Sprint GT excellent reviews and proven track record, only, therefore, more expensive.
ps dont want to end up on here and no Triumph.
