Mine dont, she is a bit of an old dog.lol, Love her to bits tho Took her back to the garage to have the steering bearings checked after having them replaced the other week. All good, then rode back home in pissing rain, luckily I decided to wear my full face today. Have to say it is better than my open face in wet weather.
I'm sure she's nice. She's a Triumph . Mine was a complete mess when I got her. Plenty of TLC and cleaning. She's had my heart broke with things going wrong but like you I love her to bits, its just a shame some bits don't like me .sounds like I have the better weather, makes a change for Ireland
Wired and working, not sure about the accuracy though. It suggested tick over was about 1200 but the other day tuneecu gave a reading of about 1050. Not sure if it's 10% out or 150 rpm out. Andy
Took my Speed Triple to Steve Jordan's motorcycles for a dyno run, with the K&N filter, new pipes and other bits I wanted to make sure the engine was running smooth and efficient They rectified some lean areas in mid throttle and improved bhp by 10% not that I would notice as I don't go full throttle but it is nice to know it is running smooth and not hot Was a hot day so took my shorts with me so I could while away the hours in the village, unfortunately I forgot some trainers so rather than stroll around in shorts and biker boots I suffered in my leathers! Doh!
My dad was a mechanic always messing with cars so I picked a lot up from him and then decades later I did the same with our eldest son, who can do most things car / bike wise. I find now that he asks my advice but always knows best, but I guess that's kids. Andy
Theres one of these for sale up near me, anything to look for or worry about? It does not have a front fairing. is yours 3 piece?
I'm guessing the starter sprag( is that what you call it ) never had trouble on my triple but I'm told they do play up if the battery isn't fully charged.
Penelope is in the kilkenny classic car and bike show today The sun is shining and some fine cars and bikes here..
hi jtd, yes my fairing top is in 3 parts, then there are the side pieces. As Wayne says, the sprag can and will go if the battery has run low and you keep trying the starter. Best bet is make sure the battery is in top notch order. Had mine go and it cost a fortune to fix as the engine has to come out and be split into 2, far beyond my capabilities these days so garage job. The early , pre 95 models had a cover on top of the crankcases below the carbs to access the starter, these are much easier to fix. carbs tend to gum up if left, need stripping and cleaning, you can run redex or similar regularly,I do. coils can be suspect, replace with Gill or nology crank position sensor can fail . sign of this is bike starting but cutting out after a few miles. wont restart until the engine cools then starts ok again. easy fix. tyre pressures , my bike will not turn if the pressures are even a little low bike is very top heavy can be heavy on fuel, mikuni carbs especially, later keihin are reputedly better Good solid workhorses tho generally, over engineered to stop the older Triumph problems
Been riding mine, in beautiful sunshine to Portpatrick for an Ice-cream, then home again in the pissing rain .
