This is the latest head scratcher, and the reason I was so annoyed with the oil filter on the Triumph. Finding it really quite difficult to keep my hands off the 955i I decided to get a project. I bought this for a few hundred quid .and it needs alot :- everything . BMW K 75 90 (basket case) so after buying bits and working on this, when I went to do the odd jobs on the 955i, I suppose I expected every thing to go smooth, I made the mistake of thinking "this will take an hour"
The first time I did it I was more concerned with getting the old piston out. I checked it afterwords and no damage , rolled on bench checked against other and cleaned and put back, worked fine. Its not best practice by any means it seems to be ok as a last chance, I dont have compressed air. when you look at them the pistons are thick and if you go steady and dont slacken more than you need... any way worked ok.
After 2.5 weeks and 750 miles on my new Bonneville the first mod is done. Hagon shocks all installed and tested. Feels great solo so see tomorrow how they are with a pillion. Nice easy mod and the first of many I fear, itching to do the stage 1 torque kit and 2:1 exhaust
Took my nephew ( age 35 ) out for his first ride on a motorcycles yesterday. He was a little nervous at first but soon settled in. He seemed to enjoy it. Then off for a Suprise party for me.
Hello Mick, sorry mate I didn't realise it was your day, yesterday. I hope it was well-spent and full of fun for you?
Today was a nice little ride out in the local area, a little bit warm in the leather but it's always nice to be out on the street twin, it's surprising how much attention it gets, a little bit concerning to say the least!!
Yes, today infact, a older gent came up to us as we was sitting on a bench enjoying a drink and a flapjack, after he was looking at the bikes and surprisingly pointed at the tiger and said is that yours lass (looking at the other half) lol he also commented that the street twin was a proper triumph and and the tiger was ugly lol
Messed about with my abba stand. New adaptors arrived Friday so been practicing getting it up. (Oooh errrr missus) ATB Bob
Found out why the oil filter was such a problem when I started the bike and oil went over the floor! found this in the filter cavity this must have been there since before the old filter was fitted. I dont even think its a oil filter seal! this reminds me of the clutch plates I changed and found a plate and a spacer behind the back plate (on this bike also)
Almost forgot!!! New Carbon chain guard and hugger fitted. Be able to see it better on Friday when the scorpion low boy is fitted and the pillion pegs removed. ATB Bob
I absolutely will NOT! Cheers for the nice remark btw. But in case SWMBO is around, absolutely. Course I will. Bob
Happy belated birthday Mick. Been a busy weekend, new tyre fitted on Saturday.I was supposed to road test a Tiger Sport but the spares man had borrowed it and the Reg/Rec had packed up and they hadn't managed to fix it. Sorted some soft luggage for the wife's Beemer and managed a ride out today with a few mates.

Well done Crispey. cleaned up oil fitted filter checked pressures oiled chain. 80 miles for a chip shop tea home washed bed, me next.
WASP... Brilliant work, yet again. love the extender, love all the carbon actually. Gonna have to stop riding together, your showing my bike up Ha cant wait to see n hear it finished.......... But then again...Will it Ever be finished, your worse than me for fiddling well done, talk soon
Well done crispey. Nice when ya get a little recognition eh? JTD, yeah it's clean. Just done the chain as I'm gonna be using the wurth dry lube from now on. Don't like the fling everything else gives. Besides, chain wax and road crud = a very effective abrasive. Cheers Tony, but when you get that supercharger fitted, they won't be spending ANY time together as you'll be up the road somewhere. I do enjoy personalising my bike tho. It's what makes it "mine". ATB Bob
