    Went to Hartside Cafe for a ride and a cuppa a good few years ago and sitting outside having a coffee and a smoke when some bloke rocks up on an old Kawasaki with stabilisers :eek:
    Turns out he was disabled and the stabilisers were pneumatically operated automatically below 4-5mph!!
    Clever eh?;)

    I like that, I wonder if they were funded like with mods to disabled cars ?

    He actually had one foot missing...his left one :confused:
    The gears had been moved to the right hand side and gear lever modified due to restricted ankle movement
    Could walk but didn't trust the strength in his legs so a friend of his dad made system for him....like I said very clever ;)

    The rider mate ,,,, swap him out for a younger non-arthritic version so throwing the bike round the twisties don't hurt for fecking much.

    Based on my '94R.....

    LED headlights in twin round shells (black ally or carbon fibre) with DLR's would be nice.
    Triumph accessory LED indicators, billet reservoirs & levers, & exhaust should all be fitted as standard.
    Bring back the PVM wheels.
    Brembo rear brake would be nice to match the front, but rear on Multistrada I traded in was fecking useless so beware what you wish for.
    Engine's a peach and as much (more?) power than I can make full use of (on public roads).
    Gearbox on mine is knife through butter (except when selecting 1st from N when hot).
    Active suspension might be nice to give a smoother ride on our crap roads (while maintaining current excellent handling).
    Keep the bike owner maintainable - i.e. electronics kept to a minimum and/or make required maintenance software available FOC
    (Don't need rider modes - my right hand is still analogue)
    If I need cruise control I'm riding the wrong roads.

    Cruise Control is a nice tool if you aren't lucky enough to live close to the "right roads". Also useful if you do intracontinental trips with the purpose of reaching foreign "right roads" comfortably.

    I know it's trivial and not essential hence why it's at the bottom of my list. It should be simple to incorporate, though.

    I guess on the newer model with fly-by-wire throttle it comes pretty much for free..... so why not, but I rarely use it even in the car (and always feel less in control), managed about 50k miles Euro touring without, so low on my wish list.
    Likewise a couple of years with the Multistrada taught me you find a map with the throttle response you like and tend to leave it there. Electronic suspension adjustment (for pillion/luggage load) is useful on a tourer but not really relevant to the Speed Triple, but I was impressed with the way active suspension damping copes with our crap road surfaces.
    Forgot to add cornering ABS to my list, and to a lesser extent traction control. Both useful safety nets (see - I'm not totally anti-electronics, just think manufacturers are competing over who has the most toys)......
    And we end up paying for them whether we need them or not. :rolleyes:

    Totally agree with the gearbox, but isn't the 2015 speedy actually a 2011 model that hit the draftsman's table probably in 2009/10? Nothing but paint schemes have really changed in that time. A 2015 bike is arguably 7 to 8 years old already in its design and its technology. A quaint step back in time when compared to some of the Jap alternatives, very long and clunky box, even in comparison to a 99 TLR! Spoke type wheels may look good but would you want them on a bike that puts out more than 125bhp as "standard", they have an uncanny tendency to "twist" the hubs out of the rear and they are heavier! Hydraulic clutch systems are heavier and more complex and therefore more expensive to maintain and produce than a cable driven unit and don't really aid much in day to day use. Larger fuel tank, maybe? There's already more weight up high on the s3 because of the battery being under the tank along with twin high exit exhaust's than most sport bikes have to deal with, so an extra 2-3kgs above your knees isn't gonna improve handling any, and a yam mt09 only has 13ltrs! So how much more would you pay Triumph to create the perfect speedy for you? 2k/3k? by the time they add a Brembo rear caliper and master cylinder there's a £300-400 upgrade and wont work any better than Nissin or Tokico do already on the rear. (probably don't work any better on the front either, its more a status kinda thing). A more comprehensive ABS that works on corners would be at least £500. How about launch control, built in cruise control, heated grips, pilot to pillion radio, 12v power outlets for our social media devices? (lol, sadly that will probably happen). The one thing I really do miss though is a helmet holder! The bike does everything reasonably well but nothing exceptionally well and to make it do any one thing exceptionally well would spoil the balance?

    I'd put a new clutch in mine - its dreadful at 3~4k revs abd noisy when the lever is released in neutral.
    Oh - and a headlight that lights the road not just the inside of the screen. Otherwise - ok

    On my Rocket I'd like a headlamp flasher not just on/off. Cruise Control would be nice on "long mile crunching get there quicker" rides.

    No tool kit on my speedmaster :(
    Every bike I have ever owned had a tool kit :)
    My Fireblade had huge underseat storage,tool kit,big u lock,jump leads & 4or5 cans of beer :p

    Was speaking to the mechanic at Ongar triumph on Saturday about why the speed is so heavy.

    Said although they have made 104 changes to the engine, it's still an old lump. The tech in it is old hat and just needs a brand new build from scratch.

    Like the 765rs is built from ground up with newer developments, hence being light.

    Thought you guys might like the insight. Guessing in a year or two they will be releasing an all new speed triple rs with the mod cons of an s1000r sport, let's hope they retain the character we all love!

    The 765 is a revamped 675 frame and engine. The only real new item is the clocks, the rest is just redevelopment of the old bike.
    The 675 was already light, the 765 is only 2kg lighter than the old one.
    Don't get me wrong, it's a great bike but a ground up new build it's not.....
