Was looking, I think the computer ate them...

Thanks to storm Malik it's been blowing a literal gale here today. Worse up on the east coast but still gusting strongly enough on exposed roads to keep us off two wheels. So what do you do if you can't ride bikes? You go and look at bikes, of course!

First stop was Allan Jeffries BMW in Rotherham. Inside the shop was the usual array of GS's and the like. I had a sit on a S1000XR with thoughts of what it would be like to ride one across Europe. I'm not in a rush to purchase anything but there are more practical options than the Street Triple 675 to consider. Anyway, the most interesting machine wasn't for sale, it was owned by a chap who had come to test ride an RnineT.

    bike1.jpg

The day being young, and seeing as we were already out, we moved on to Via Moto in Sheffield. I'd not been there before and was expecting a little place with a dozen bikes squeezed in to a single room. It turned out to be a fairly small but proper dealer with clothig sections, helmets and a selection of bikes, mostly Aprilias with a few Moto Guzzis thrown in, and the usual selection of random machines people have traded in.

I'd still like to try the Aprilia RS660. Looks like fun. The colour scheme may not be to everyone's taste but I like it.

    bike2.jpg

Alternatively, the Tuono version could be a replacement for my aging Street Triple. Or more likely, an addition. :D

    bike3.jpg

Finally we moved on to SMC Bikes, also in Sheffield. They have a small selection of 'classics' in a room upstairs. Come to think ot it, how did they get them up there...

You don't see many Buell's around these days.

    bike5.jpg

    A couple of old Ducatis

    bike6.jpg

    bike10.jpg

    Three bikes, 18 cylinders!

    bike9.jpg

An old NSR25O looking like it needs someone to take it on a track day.

    bike8.jpg

And the bike I always wanted as a 17 year-old but couldn't afford. I'd still put an Elsie in my garage if I found a good one.

Bummer.....hopefully your computer will burp them up at some point. I've thought I've had photos go missing but I seem to find them eventually. When I'm not looking, of course.

Sunday has been thrown into disarray… we started getting a nasty drain smell… so I’ve spent all morning trying to avoid paying Dynorod anything… job done; lecture time for the kids and their toilet roll habits… after a really good shower!!! :confounded:

First ride of the year, today. A bit chilly but ok with a few layers under the leathers. Took the MV rather than the Street Triple. We spent a few hours touring around some of South Yorkshire and got back just as the rain started and the wind picked up.

    Year: 1989
    Model: FXRS
Color: Black & Blood Red w/Chrome
    Eng size: 80
    Carb keihin butterfly {single throttle cable}
    EV27 cam
    5 speed Gear Box
    Fwd Controls
    Dyna handlebars.
    Pipes: Stock header W/CS Slipons
Seat: Stock w/strap, HD Lanyard upload_2022-1-30_20-4-27.gif
    H-D Wheels
It was stock w/ drilled out mufflers :poop: when I got it. After a lot of TLC {and upgrades} the bike now fits me and runs well. Had I sat on the {stock} bike prior, would have walked away.

    And the XLCH...
Looked at all the pitchers, saw the bike running video. Nothing about it offened me... in the stable now.

I'm so glad you found these photos, George! Those are two good looking ol' Harleys. They both look in great shape and that '68 Sporty looks like it could be sitting in the H-D Museum in Milwaukee to tell you the truth. I appreciate you sharing the details on the FXRS, too. How many miles are on each of them?

Finally managed to get a couple of ride outs on the bike as opposed to just using it for transport, which is all I have been doing lately. The weather, Covid and the house have conspired to bugger up riding possibilities recently.:confused:

I took the Yamaha because I like the noise it makes and (the real reason) I'd just washed the Tiger! :D

Here we are at Manor Farm Cafe near Leyburn, or Bellerby depending upon which direction your are travelling from. As it's part of a farm complex it's pretty much in the countryside but none the worse for it. It is normally packed at weekends in the summer but on a Friday in January it looks like this.

    MFC.jpg
    MFC1.jpg

No queuing to be served though!

Next trip was to the coast via the North York Moors. The only thing on this stretch of road was a sheep and the farmer on his quad bike.

    NYMB.jpg

Runswick Bay - a small fishing village clinging to the side of the cliffs noted for it's red tiled cottages and steep steps!

For some reason I can't upload any more photos so will try a new thread to follow this one.

I found my nostalgia Elsie back in 2020 and love it, big smiles every time I start her up and smoke up the road. :grinning:

    @steve lovatt

Glad to have you and your photos and reports back again, Steve! :grinning: And that you were able to get out for a proper ride with all you have going on. I love your photos. I particularly like those of Runswick Bay. It looks like a charming little town in a beautiful setting. I am going to have a look-see on Google Maps to place just where it is. Thanks for sharing your rideout. :)

Nice trip up the Teign and Exe Valleys in Devon today. Amazing how positive our bikes can make us feel. Power for the soul!
