    @Dougie D
    Thanks for the informative and interesting comparison of your GS with the XR1000, Dougie. I was looking at the BMW S1000R after doing the CA Superbike School camp several years ago but that's when I opted for my current Speed Triple RS. My understanding is that the XR1000 and S1000R have the same engined but (perhaps!) tuned a bit differently. Is that right?

    Reading your comments about your S1000RR loaner is what brought back those fond memories of my Keith Code School experience. Mr. Sandi very generously got me the school for a big "Decade Birthday" as we call them. All the bikes used by both students and coaches are BMW S1000RR's. I'd never been on a sport bike before this camp nor even on a track! It was quite an adventure and a terrific learning experience as well as being quite confidence-building. But....I'm TOTALLY with you on the position. Although I might differ with you on actually being able to ever get used to the position! :eek::joy:

    The track day looked like great fun Sandi :cool: the paint jobs look cool too,
    The XR1000, S1000R & the S1000RR all have the same engine but with different tunes, i just googled it and the XR has 165bhp with 114 nm, the R has 160bhp with 112 nm and the RR has 199bhp with 113 nm,
    The GS "only" has 134bhp but the torque figure is much more with 143 nm :cool: :)
    i took this photo of an "M" package S1000RR the last time i was at the dealers :cool::cool::cool:

    Yes, Dougie, the track day was great fun! Actually the camp was two full track days. Each day we started at 8:00am on the dot and finished up at 5:00-5:30pm with about an hour break for lunch (which was absolutely delicious and copious, BTW!). The paint jobs were cool and they had the student bikes painted blue and the on-track coaches' bikes painted white. That Keith Code Superbike School is quite the operation. I guess it has been around for 40 years or so.

    Thanks for all the stats on the bikes. I am a torque fan myself. I always say that hp only does you so much good at the top end since there is that pesky thing called a "speed limit". But torque. Ahh, for me that's where much of the fun is. :grinning::heart_eyes: That "M" package S1000RR is beautiful! It's like "motorcycle jewelry"--only so much better because you can ride it and not just wear it and look at it. ;):joy:

    For the FXR... Wires {from the new ignition module} to the coil were about 6-8in short. Did some cut, splice & soldering. More to follow, along with routing & zip ties. Doing my BEST work so it won't bite me later.

    Note: the grammar police were/are really taking me to task... for sum reason.

    The mighty Suzuki Gladius and I were reunited today - this time I had a metallic pink and white one, not my colour scheme at all but it did the trick and I passed my Mod 1 test :party::party:.

    Mod 2 to go....hopefully I can get a slot early in January unless a cancellation comes up in the meantime. I am almost a biker now, or at least if not quite that, almost at the point of being legally allowed to get about on more than my 125 :).

    BTW., you ARE already a biker - no "almost" about it - you're just lacking a minor, government mandated qualification, the importance of which, to most of us here, means little in terms of achieving the status of "biker". My 10 penn'orth.

    Congrats Mrs. V.

    Yahoo, @Mrs Visor!!! That is terrific news. :grinning: Congratulations! And, as @Adie P said, you are already a biker. :) I've been so impressed with your stick-to-it-ness and your patience and diligence in getting to this point. We''ll be eager to hear about your Mod 2 experience and I have no doubt that you will achieve all of your motorcycle goals. :heart:

    The BWM R50/5... Got the new front brake cable installed & adjusted. It caused me some grief:confused: until I realized the actuating levers on the drum had been moved on the splines. Evidently the old one was stretched a good bit, rusted solid.
    Checked the charge on the battery. ;) Ready for a spin {parking lot figure 8s} only to find the throttle was frozen. :confused::confused:
    The slide in the left carb had snugged up in its bore... something new to me.
    Pulling it apart found no damage, just dry. Then trouble hit... the throttle cable came out of the slide. :eek: I now know the best way to install the throttle cable in the slide. :cool:
    Got it all back together, idling & responding well after the Marvel Mystery Oil got thru the system.
    Too late, cold for a ride... another day.

    ... need to check the tire pressure{s}

    I had ligament repair surgery 6 weeks ago and just got out of my cast this week. I took my wife's new 2022 Indian Chief Darkhorse out for a blast around town. That 116 engine is no joke and the burble of that v twin is pure auditory pleasure.

    Then I jumped on my 2021 Rocket 3 GT and I forgot all about that little Indian.

    I went for a cold, damp ride in the murk today on my 125. For why? Because firstly I am tight and I can park in town for free and secondly I decided a bit of murk was worth it to dodge the Christmas shopping traffic heading into town and cramming into the car parks even though I too was heading in to add to the huge volume of people in the shops. Had to do it today as I am working until late on Christmas Eve. My cheapo Ebay heated vest seems to be the business :).

    Sandi, Congrats on the school :party:.
    My signed :cool: hard copy of "twist of the wrist" is dated '82. Attended the school four times, GPz 550s & 600s at Willow Springs. Being a /5 BMW rider the GPzs were a whole new world of speed & brakes. :cool:

    What are the ten skills they teach now?

    So cool that you have a signed copy of "Twist of the Wrist", @Georgez! Wow, a four-time attendee. That's amazing. There were a few students I met when I was there that had been to the school four time--a couple of them even more. I've never been to Willow Springs but did take a peek online as that track is probably about the same distance from Tucson as the Las Vegas track. I would like to go back again but not sure that'll happen. I definitely found that the BMW S1000RR's were a completely new world of speed and brakes so I know what you mean!
