Nice work, Mrs. V! Getting all this experience in has got to give you a lot of confidence for the tests! You are going to LOVE the Street T.! :D

I will have to see how a big bike feels and am taking a full four days of lessons prior to Mod 1; I keep being told that they feel more stable than a 125 and I feel perfectly stable on that (but that is obviously all I know.....) doing the low speed stuff. I used to race pushbikes though so maybe that helps with balance. I am doing some fairly big twisty rides (for a 125) with Helmut and sometimes commute to work / go the the shops / go and practice u turns and figure of eights on it which gives me traffic and low speed experience.

I can get a bit flustered being watched (as do so many of us) and just hope that my nerves don't get the better of me and I put a foot down in the U - turn or anything. I cannot wait though!!!

Chamomile tea beforehand and the confidence of knowing that you've done all the preparatory work should see you though this.

A guy local to where I live recently took up motorcycling and was completely new to it - an ex-professional drummer and no spring chicken, he was nervous as hell as the time came up for his first test (I have absolutely NO idea what they're called these days ..... DAS; mod this or that - whatever!) so I promised to take him out for a couple of rides with him following on his learner legal 125. We stopped a couple of times and I asked him if he was OK with speeds/lines/braking etc., and we talked about generic stuff like road positioning for observation; gear selection, etc. At the end of that ride he was buzzing! He'd enjoyed the ride FOR THE RIDE; said he'd learned and absorbed so much more than he'd expected (I must stress I didn't try to "teach" him anything - just explained what I was doing and why) and really ENJOYED his riding not just sitting on the bike and getting from A to B but riding. The weather helped, I'm sure!

Sounds like you're doing much the same thing with hubby.

The point is, if you're able to relax, think about what you're doing and why, and be quietly confident the test can be seen more as an assessment and appraisal than a trial. HV is rapidly approaching the end of his temporary tenure of the Streetie!

    We're all rootin' for ya!

It seems from your posts about your and Helmut's rides, @Mrs Visor, that you will be in great shape for your tests! You've clearly been putting in the time and the miles--and it sounds like lots of different sorts of riding experiences and things you've been practicing, too. My bet is you'll be at the top of the class. ;) :grinning: As @Adie P said, we're all rootin' for ya! :kissing_heart:

Not a Triumph, or a bike. Been modifying and regrinding an axe I found at a big box store. Started out as a “fireman’s” axe pattern. I’m reprofiling and grinding to make it a bearded axe style. It was originally a decent forged head with a hardened tool steel edge, evidently from Germany. We will see how it turns out.

@OsteKuste - That's badass. Looks like a fun project. Any proofs or manufacturers stamps on it?

There was a manufacturing name and details on a painted logo on the haft, but that’s already been removed. German company, stated forged construction, etc. I will attest that the overall body is softer steel with a hardened tool steel edge. Having made a few axes myself this way I will say it’s been done pretty well.

Had the interceptor booked in for the warranty fix on the gear selector switch. Checked the fuel before leaving for the dealers and needed to top up the tank from my lawn mower stash. Anyway set of for dealers and the rain started. It absolutely poured both on the way and coming home. Got soaked arriving like a drowned rat. Fortunately only on the outside :):);)

Yikes. All the way around, Wessa. Glad you did make it to the dealer unscathed, however!

Yes the motorway was very busy with lots of HGV's and the spray that comes with them. Had to keep my wits about me.

When the inlaws lived in the lake district there was a ford up the road - grockles where often caught out and got stuck in it. We earned quite a few bottles of whisky pulling them out!

That's the river Winster, just north of Bowland Bridge. Past the Hare and Hounds, take a left at The Brown Horse.
