It does make you wonder. But an electrical fault is not something that you have an influence over. The dealer did say that there has been a number of failures of this sensor.

Hi Sandi T. I have been following your H-D Low Rider 'vibration' issue you have had for quite some time. I may have missed it, but did you ever get that problem settled? 2 weeks ago I had my tires changed (2018 Triumph Speedmaster) and now have a similar pulsating vibration that comes and goes every 2 seconds at 55 mph in 4th gear. Just thought it might be the same as my issue and wanted to know how you fixed it. Most people are saying the tires need rebalancing..but some say that did not work.

    Cheers,
    Sandra

Took chuga boom out for a run as I've finished making the new longer cables for the scramble bars.

Hi, Sandra. I'm sorry to report that I have not gotten that problem settled. It turns out that my rear wheel needed balancing but that didn't fix the pulsation problem. I did speak at length to someone at a different dealership and he had a couple of ideas that I plan to look into, one of which is whether the belt tension is off.

I have read reports of a similar issue with my particular model and some have said that the tires were the issue, others changed the tires with no change in the problem. Sorry I can't be of more help. I hope that you figure out how to resolve your issue on your Speedmaster. Let me know if you figure something out if you get it fixed!

Today's Sunday ride took us to Mammoth, Arizona, and a restaurant called Mi Pueblito that we've not been to in months and months. It's a lovely ride to the northwest and round trip the mileage for me is just shy of 100 miles. I rode my Low Rider S on this beautiful morning.

There were five of us this morning and the bikes included my Low Rider, a Harley Heritage Classic, a Triumph Thruxton, a Suzuki Ninja 400, and an Indian Scout.

Those butterflies I've reported on elsewhere are still everywhere! And a lot of them wound up on our helmets and face shields. This doesn't rival @Vulpes' helmet on his Alpes tour but it was pretty bad considering this was from about 45 miles of riding--and me trying to wipe them off for the first 20 minutes then just plain giving up. :joy: The front end of my bike looked about like this, too. I did wipe my face shield down while at the restaurant so at least I had a fresh start for the ride home. But my helmet looked like this again when I got home. I'm sure glad I wasn't wearing an open face helmet!:joy:
    IMG_2234.jpeg

The gentleman who owns the restaurant used to ride motorcycles so there's lots of motorcycle-only parking. There were six other bikes parked in front when we arrived but these parallel parking spaces were wide open. And that's our group seated just on the other side of the wall so we can see our bikes while we're eating which is nice. The other group roared off (VERY loudly!) shortly after we arrived. :joy:

    IMG_2243.jpeg

The guy who was leading our ride today pulled in first and headed not for the parking spaces in the photo above but for this one on the side of the building. I think he was enticed by the bakery and tortilla factory sign. ;)
    IMG_2244.jpeg

Mi Pueblito has terrific Mexican food. And usually they have a lot of Mexican bakery baked goods inside the restaurant but not today. In fact, it was more quiet there today than I've even seen it so I'm not sure what's up with that. Hopefully they are doing ok. I think a lot of restaurants continue to struggle (no) thanks to Covid.

This was just one page of a five page menu. There are several go-to menu items for me. Today's choice was #114, the homemade tamale and eggs. I had the green corn tamale and eggs over medium. I was so hungry and dug into my breakfast so quickly that I mooshed the eggs and refried beans together and started chowing down before I thought to snap a photo. :yum So it definitely tasted better than it looks in the picture! :joy: And I bought a couple of fresh homemade flour tortillas to take home to Mr. Sandi who opted to stay home today.

We had the patio all to ourselves. There are ceiling fans and the space is really comfortable plus the view across the valley and distant mountains is expansive and beautiful.

This Sunday's knife display was darned weak. :( One guy forgot his at home. Dena doesn't carry one when she rides. Not yet anyway--but peer pressure can be a powerful thing. ;) Yet another decided that his mini Swiss Army knife could be considered adequate. :p :joy: I'm not sure what the large black one in the middle is but its owner thinks Mr. Sandi might want to trade with him--again. They traded knives last weekend. My knife is the orange one. One of the guys in our ride group has a massive pocket knife collection. I'm curious to see what he brings the next time he joins the group ride.

I hate bugs, butterflies and so on. Sometimes it feels like you get shot by someone with his rifle! Great pictures and nice story!

Thanks, Markus! Yeah, I like butterflies....except when I'm riding. I agree that sometimes it feels like a shot. But more often for me it's an (ugh) gooey splatt. :p And those happen typically right in the center of my face shield! :joy:

Our butterfly population this year is WAY up, Ade. I read a recent article about it. And it's all due to the much higher than typical monsoon rains. The mosquitos are really bad this year, too, which is very unusual. And they seem to love me. Mr. Sandi doesn't even need to use bug spray if I'm around because I seem to draw every one of them. My legs look like I have the measles! :(

:yum Egg options-- Most typically folks order their eggs fried in one of several degrees of doneness: over easy (flip over once, quite runny), over medium which is my usual choice (flip over once, less runny), over hard (flip, hard yolk). Then there's sunny side up which is still fried but just means the eggs don't get flipped over at all. The other popular option is scrambled which I sometimes get if they throw in a bunch of goodies like cheese, veggies, and the like. Once in awhile someone will order poached or soft-boiled but most restaurants aren't as likely to offer these as an option unless you order something like eggs benedict where the eggs come poached or basted automatically. I also like hard-boiled eggs now and again but I don't think I've ever seen that option on a restaurant menu, come to think of it.

Had a lovely weekend of riding on the little Herald 125 - turns out it's a fun bike and not toooooo shabby, it even breaks the 60mph barrier and hangs on at that speed given the right conditions :joy:. On Saturday @Helmut Visor and I rode about 65 miles through Herefordshire and Worcestershire and on Sunday about 120 miles from our house to Tintern Abbey, Abergavenny, Bronllys and home - loads of bikes out, great weather and plenty of coffee (the last being absolutely essential to my wellbeing!).

We look an odd pair at the moment, Helmut on the big, noisy Nightstorm and me on the little, noisy Herald :joy:. I "may" have embarrassed myself by knocking the kill switch whilst manoeuvring out of where I had parked at Tintern Abbey and looking at my bike in my puzzlement until two lovely lady bikers let me know and very graciously pretended that it's something that they still did all the time ;). Helmut was too busy talking about the Nightstorm with a small group of bikers he had almost deafened when he started it.... (or should that be shouting about it, above the exhaust noise) :joy:.

@Sandi T I know that without pictures it didn't happen....I am terrible at taking photos but promise to do better in the future :p.

At least, Andy, at least. On some of the roads we ride there are few places to pull over safely so it's just "live with it". But, yeah, the biggest splatts always seem to come at the most inopportune times! :p For me it's usually right when starting out with a completely clean face shield. :joy: Or about a minute after I've just cleaned it.

As a matter of fact, Ade, I just got some of this Avon Skin So Soft in the mail a couple of weeks ago! I'd always heard that it works as mosquito repellent without being a chemical. I've been using it with decent--though not perfect--success. I think I'm down to a mere 20 or so bites on me now vs. about double that prior to the Skin So Soft. I'm not sure that Ellie, the Boxer approves of the scent, though. :joy:

On my daily rides, I always have these "small" wipes with me for quick visor cleaning. For multi-day tours, I then use a soft cloth and a cleaning spray.

Sounds like a wonderful day out on the bike, @Mrs Visor!:sun: And I predict you can take some good photos just based on the train video you posted not too long ago. :)

We swore by it in the Army. It's especially effective against smaller skeeters and gnats. It's also infinitely more pleasant to use than USGI "Bug Juice" or stuff like "Off." Some pests are just impervious to anything, though.

Hi @BonnieRed, I have experienced vibration after each rear tyre change (front was fine), but thought that related to my upgraded rear brembo brake setup. It has bedded in after a while, but I have found this has damaged the floating disc each time.
As it is over 2 years old, no warranty, but supplier looking to provide one at discount.: unamused:
Both my replacement rear tyres have been balanced, so I can only think of alignment??
