I rode El Gordo (my Fat Boy) over Gates Pass this morning to meet up with my friend, Leila, for breakfast at Coyote Pause. We'd planned to eat then do a ride together through Saguaro National Park West (a staple route of ours) but got so immersed in conversation that after breakfast we just wound up going our separate ways and riding home as the temp at that point was about 95ºF. I finally got two of the last three parts that have been on backorder since January, the mirrors and floorboards. They are part of Harley's "Empire Collection" of parts. For my Fat Boy that collection offered mirrors, floorboards, grips, shifter peg, and brake pedal. My floorboards actually arrived from the initial order but a parts person tracked down the mirrors at another dealership that was willing to part with and send them to Tucson. So those were installed about a week ago and I'm really happy with them both aesthetically and functionally. The only thing left from my parts order from back in early January is the H-D cruise control module which was referred to by the same parts person as a "unicorn" since no one can get it right now. Evidently it's a problem with getting some electronics-related item used to make the modules. So hundreds if not thousands of backorders are out there presently. Oh well, it'll come at some point and although I use my cruise control on my Street Glide Special quite a lot and even the one on my Speed Triple to give my right arm and shoulder a break, it's not a necessity. But it does make me realize and appreciate how nice it is to have cruise on a bike! Breakfast at Coyote Pause--Southwest Scramble, a biscuit with honey, and fruit. And coffee.
hahahaha .... don't forget yer sickbag ! Gawd, these realtitty shows are seemingly on a race to the bottom.
I traded in my victory cross country for something a bit faster 2013 ninja 1000. It's pretty zippy. I decided I didn't need two touring bikes. If I'm going to go on a long ride, I'm going to take the tiger. I wanted something a bit more nimble than the 900 pound victory for shorter rides, and such. This should fit the bill nicely.
i was going to have a day off the bike and watch the MotoGP but at the end of Moto 3 my brother in law phoned and asked if i wanted a run up to Braemar, it was a lovely day so it would have been rude to say no! once we got up to Braemar we decided to keep going we turned onto the south Deeside Rd at Ballater and then took the Cairn O Mount Rd then onto Montrose for a chippie T before heading home Brother in laws bike up the cairn o Mount
Just got back from a 2-up tour from home->Plymouth->Ferry to Santander->Santiago de Compostela->Lon->Pamplona->Marmande->Le Blanc->Caen->Ferry to Portsmouth->Home on my new Royal Enfield meteor 350. Total around 2000 miles. There were some low times, lots of heat, some rain but also some great roads. The bike never missed a beat and I was so glad I chose to take it instead of my Trophy 1200/4, especially when my navigation app decided that a steep cart track was a road or when villagers had decided to dig up their road and it was now a gravel hill....
It'll be the Tracer Wim. That's the one I use for touring with it's panniers. If I came on the Kwacker I'd have to wear the same clothes all the time.
Took a run through to Glasgow as infinity have a sale on, so i bought myself a new pair of textile trousers for the winter. I'd made up a route home from Great western Rd where infinity motorcycles are located. Less than 3 miles and your out of Glasgow and on some good roads and it's only about 11 miles to Lennoxtown where the crow Rd starts. i stopped off at the big car park and decided to walk a bit up the hill opposite as there was a little building and i wanted to see what it was, it's just a brick building with a tiny room about 4ft by 4ft I've no idea what it was for,you can see the car park below where i parked my bike. i decided to climb up to the top of the hill but as anyone who does hill walking will know what you think is the top isn't actually the top! it took me well over an hour to get to the top i stopped about half way up, in the photo below you can just make out the car park to the right of middle (if you zoom in!), from the top you weren't able to see the car park. i was knackered by the time i got to the top, luckily i just had my combat trousers and riding shirt on although i should have left my shirt in the panniers but i wasn't expecting to walk to the top of the hill! some views from the top bike parked up before my hike! i then headed down the Crow Rd which was great fun on the GS, i then made my way to Callander i didn't stop in Callander but headed on to Stathyre where i stopped off for lunch at the Broch Cafe i wasn't sure whether to go home via Loch Tay or Loch Earn but as i'd been up loch Tay the other day i took the Loch Earn Rd (turned the bike around for photo as Loch earn is on your right when going down it) i wasn't going to bother stopping again, but when i got to Dunkeld i couldn't resist having a weak shandy
I'd heard that the there would be serving burgers outside the church in Braemar so me and Mrs D had a run up after i got back from a bike meet in Kirriemuir, Pulled pork on really tasty sourdough rolls Linn Of Dee
Thanks, @Dartplayer! I'd only seen them in photos so was hoping I'd like them as much "in person" as on paper or screen. I really like how they look on my Fat Boy and, yes, they are very comfortable.
What a fantastic rideout, @Dougie D! And such rich, deep blue skies. Good for you for doing that hike. It was probably good that you didn't know what it was like when you started out, eh? But I'm sure those views made it worthwhile.
Another gorgeous day, Dougie. You certainly have some beautiful routes to ride! And pulled pork, too? Life is good.
After my duties in the office I will ride in the "Waldviertel" for a meeting with my tyre-dealer. My HONDA NT-1100 will receive new Continental Road Attack 4 today.
