What Have You Being Doing With Your Non-triumph Today?

Oh thanks for that @Dougie D a proper revisit the past as I cycled that route on road bikes as a 14 year old
We stopped at Glen Clova youth hostel then ended the day at Ballater youth hostel.

 

parts off it would have been tough going on a bycycle! so well done,mind you when your'e 14 everythings easy! it's popular with mountain bikes as well as hill walkers

 

I'll see if I can find some old pictures out, must have been around 1981.

 

I got to play with A royal enfield continental GT 650 today when my bike was in for a service. Had it for nearly 4 hours, 3 of them riding.
My creaking bones took a bit of adjustment to fit it, and after a few cramps in the hips and quads I settled down. It was a great ride, although I could have done without the pains in my wrists, thumbs and neck, I enjoyed every second. The engine is wonderful and the power delivery is just perfect for my type of riding these days. Brakes were excellent. Had a smile from start to finish although I don't think my body is designed to fit it as my knees were below the tank against the engine and it made it difficult to brace my legs against the tank when braking, especially downhill, putting more weight on my wrists. I can see an 650 in my future, maybe not a GT but who knows....

 

Do they give discount for the one and a half donuts ?

 

I REALLY like that RE 650 - both models - but wish they'd do a dual front disc version. It's a symmetry/aesthetics thing.

 

I don't like the look of the silencers they are just too big and splay out too much at the back, but that was then before I rode one. Now I just don't care.... The riding experience was just so nice. I had a suzuki 250 X7 in the 70's where I put on ace bars and this just reminded me of that view when riding, basically I forgot and couldn't care what it looked like when I wasn't riding. Is that wrong, am I loosing it?

 

This is the church they used in "A local hero". It's actually in KinlochAilort.

 

i had to google where the church was, i've passed it on the way to Malliag but didn't realize it was used in Local hero, google image from the road side,next time i'm over that way i'll have to stop and have a look at it

 

IIRC I told you about it when we were over there in '19. I think it has been converted into a house now.

 

Now you mention it you did Wim! and i'm sure i did stop and i couldn't get in the driveway probalby like you say it's a house now!.. my memory doesn't get any better

 

Nice couple corners after you get over that hump! and of course after the viaduct the views of the loch!

Absolutely gorgeous day today 29c , the wife asked me if we could go a run on the bike, daft question!
(i put on the panniers as i knew it would be too hot to walk about with all our bike gear on) We decided to head up the Cairngorms to Muir Of Dinnet nature reserve which is well worth a visit, I'd saw a program on tv and they were at the reserve and visited a place called The Vat Muir, you walk about 5mins from the visitor centre the arrow is where you go through


and you end up in here! not much water as it's been a dry couple of weeks




We walked a few trails then headed back to the bike, one of the views enroute with Loch Kinord in the background






From there we stopped of at Portarch where the river Dee was full of sunbathers


Next stop was at the Cairn o Mount


We then stopped off at the Clatterin Brig restaurant for lunch, really good it was too

Then home to sit in the sun for a while

Wasn't sure where to put this , me and a friend were on a 10 mile hike up Bridge Of Tilt today, half way through our walk we encountered a naked couple! then we noticed 3 guys with video cameras beside them, they then turned the cameras on us we both thought something dodgy is happening, my mate says to one of the cameramen Are you making a porno?
No No he replied we are making a tv show for channel 4 would you like to be shown on film can you sign a form saying you agree? we both said no it's ok we don't want to be filmed, while we were walking away my mate turns around and snaps a photo of the "scenery", one of the camera men came up to us and asked if we could delete the photo, my mate explained that he was just taking a photo of the scenery as he always takes lots when we are out walking, the guy then said that there is a guy further up that has a consent form for us to sign if we want to be included in the show, we declined again, we weren't buying his explanation about a tv show. but right enough further up the road there was a young lad with a clip board wanting us to sign it? we asked him what the name of the show was, he told us it was called "Naked and alone and racing to get home" so we googled it and right enough it is program getting made for tv!

I suppose the naked bird in the photo was the "non Triumph" ? But seriously, what a weird encounter!

 

it was! I'll have to look out for the show when it gets aired, sounds a lot of pi** but I'll have to watch it!

 

Class aye thats called a model release they wanted you to sign. Brilliant encounter!
