Mate had a '69 Bonnie in the glass case (the aquarium .. haha) which was part of the bar, untouched, we went right over it, and pretty certain it's never had a spanner to it. White pebble floor, blue lights and so on. Pulled it out to use (a little) and put the '52/53 Ariel Sq 4 in it's place, the one year only light blue colour ... beautiful !! I reckon the same as you Pegs, but when you've got a collection, why not ? Nice to sit over them and have a beer.

Decided to change out the stock cat exhaust on my old and faithful 2000 bmw R1100RT. Ordered the Dominator that is being shipped from Poland. Should take 2 week to deliver to the US. It doesn’t have a cat and weighs 30 lbs less. In the mean time i removed the CCP relay that takes the cat O2 sensor out of the loop. The result is an idle that is only 100 rpm higher at idle which is ok. The ecu just sees no cat/O2 sensor and riches up fueling a little. Can’t wait to get my hands dirty installing new muffler. It should sound more throaty and not like a hoover.

Yup, he's made it how he likes it and with what works for him. That's part of the fun with motorcycles is getting to make the bike your own, whether that's keeping it original stock or changing tons of stuff, and even changing your changes.

Along the same vein as seeing a bike earlier then later and being a bit dismayed: I test-rode a used T120 offered for sale in my town two years ago and then just saw it again with its new owner last week. When I rode it, it was a beautiful bike that had been obviously well cared for. I loved the ride and it was a fabulous deal with lots of extras. I didn't get it though because it was all black and that's not my preference and despite it being a great bike at a great price I didn't want to get it and have "bike envy" when I saw a Triumph more to my aesthetic. Anyway, fast forward to last week and I was dismayed to see the bike looking terrible...we guessed the new owner must keep it outside uncovered and takes no care to keep it up...sad. But he was super happy with the bike and rides it. So each to their own. I guess the new owner of "your" bike, Sandi, probably is enjoying it. Viva la difference.

I do agree though...he did it no favors! Sandi's pipes were beautiful, for one.

Today my Fat Boy, El Gordo, and I went for a little spin so that he could stretch his "legs" since he will be resting in our garage for the next 10 days or so while I take the Street Glide Special on our annual motorcycle trip up through northern Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado.

We departed the garage fairly early but it was already rather toasty. We're currently under a "Heat Warning" according to my iPhone weather app. But as long as I was moving the temperature didn't really bother me. Leaving at 8:30am helped. I rode one of my favorite standard routes that I do when I just need some moto therapy. The route takes me north--northeast of home and along the western edge of the Santa Catalina Mountain range. Across from the mountain range are businesses, homes, and a low-key shopping plaza area in a suburb called Oro Valley. I took this photo of El Gordo by a mural that's in that shopping plaza. I've posted a pic before of a motorcycle in front of this same mural but last time it was my Speed Triple.

I'd intended to ride about 50 miles or so and that's pretty much what I did. Just long enough to get Gordo's juices flowing and my soul soothed and short enough to get home before the temperature went over 100ºF.

Thanks, @Mrs Visor. :) We're so looking forward to our upcoming trip! Mr. Sandi and I just took a four-day trip up to Las Vegas last week to celebrate his retirement. My goal is to post a ride report about our Vegas adventures tomorrow before we hit the road for our weeklong trip on Sunday morning.:sun:

That mural reminds me of the cover of Bruce Springsteen's first album

Took the Yamaha out yesterday along the minor roads that run across the North York Moors, ending up at the scenic village of Hutton-le-Hole.

Stopped for tea and cake at The Old School House cafe - couldn't resist the Vanilla slice (despite having had a pasty and ice cream in Great Ayton) :D

Came back via Rosedale Chimney, one of the two steepest roads in England, the other is Hardknott Pass. Not my photo I didn't stop to take one

I am deeply suspicious of anyone who can resist a vanilla slice.

Gorgeous photos and weather; I love North Yorkshire, looks like you made the most of it.

Wonderful photos, Steve! I love the architecture and landscape. And I really liked the photo with the sky's reflection on the glass tabletop. Looks like a great ride with lots of goodies along the way. :yum:)

Trying hard to ignore it, but could feel the ESP pleading, (it's true, they are living beasts) so hunted out the battery holding bits and pieces and laid them on the floor ... along with all the others .. it seems happy enough for now, phew ?
