This morning we did a small-ish group ride with five of us since we don't typically do a group ride on Easter Sunday. Everyone agreed that Mexican food sounded good and since we hadn't ridden up to Mammoth in a long time, we'd ride to breakfast at Mi Pueblito. Mi pueblito means "my little town" in Spanish. I've posted pics from this restaurant before so it may look familiar to some of you.

The ride itself is lovely once you slog through the 10 or so heavily trafficked miles through Tucson to get north of the city. The weather was nice today with temperatures around 70ºF at the start and around low to mid-80ºs on the way home. It did get quite windy but I rode my Street Glide today which is heavy enough to mitigate a lot of the effects. The fairing helps, too. I've been riding my Street Glide a lot fairly recently. It's nearing 10K miles and I'm trying to time my 10K service to get it done prior to our big June trip and with enough time to ride it a bit to make sure everything is dialed in and good to go. After today's 95 mile ride, my odometer sits at 9,345 miles. And that's about what it'll be when I bring it in for my service appointment this coming Friday. Close enough.....
    IMG_8465.jpeg

Today's group, which interestingly will be our exact same group for our June trip! One of the guys looked around the table and said, "I guess today is a practice run for June." We've all traveled together multiple times in the past and it's really a terrific bunch to tour with. As I was taking a picture of the guys, our waitress offered to take one of all of us so I'm actually in one this time. :joy:
    IMG_8460.jpeg

I had the tamale plate with one green corn tamale and one red beef tamale served with two eggs and a side of refried beans. It's one of my favorite dishes at this restaurant. :yum My friend to the left was eating enchiladas topped with eggs and a side of refried beans.
    IMG_8451.jpeg

Mr. Sandi chose the chorizo and eggs with home fried potatoes.
    IMG_8453.jpeg

Three of the five of us had ice cream for dessert from Maria's Ice Cream Shop right by where I parked my bike. No photos because it was so delicious and I was so focused on eating it that I forgot to snap a pic. Next time for sure--and there will be a next time because it was fantastic ice cream. I had Butter Pecan.

This is the view out to the east from the outdoor covered patio. We had the patio all to ourselves today. In fact, we basically had the whole restaurant to ourselves today. It was actually sort of weird that there didn't seem to be any other customers--and on a Saturday morning at that. About mid-way through our meal, a police officer pulled up, parked, and went inside to eat. Now that I think about it, I wonder if something happened at the restaurant that would explain no other customers and a police presence. Hmmm....
    IMG_8462.jpeg

    IMG_8466.jpeg

Even the usually full motorcycle parking area was empty except for Mr. Sandi's and our BMW friend's bikes.
    IMG_8467.jpeg

I took this photo for the artwork on the walls--all done by local artists. But now that I look at it, what stands out to me is.....no customers! :(
    IMG_8475.jpeg

And speaking of artwork, check out the paintings on the bathroom doors!
    IMG_8469.jpeg

    IMG_8472.jpeg

Tomorrow it's my Speed Triple's turn to get out on the road. Mr. Sandi and I are planning to do our usual holiday morning ride after church which entails riding to breakfast at either Waffle House or Denny's. We leave our waiter or waitress a really big tip when we depart. We've both been servers and know how difficult it is and especially on major holidays.

@Sandi T you may have stumbled into the aftermath of a crime scene - but at least the service should have been quick with no one else there . I like the idea of Butter Pecan ice cream too.....especially in your lovely sunshine.

Are your friends happy with their change to the GS now that it's been some time?

    Have a great ride tomorrow!!

    20220417_121234.jpg

On my way back home i passed loads of bikes on there way up so god knows how many were there later on.

My brother in law had taken his bike to the Easter picnic so he asked me if i wanted to go a wee run as he had his new bike with him.. Edit i put this in the wrong thread as i had my triumph today!:joy::joy:

I am certainly wondering if we did stumble onto the aftermath of a crime scene, @Mrs Visor! But I'm hoping that we were just there at an "off" hour. I don't know that we've ever ridden to Mi Pueblito on a Saturday before. We always go there on a Sunday. Maybe Saturdays are always slow. Interestingly, the service was NOT all that quick which is also curious. But the butter pecan ice cream wasn't mysterious at all--just delicious. :yum

I'm feeling quite daft but I can't figure out to what GS change you're referring. I've been racking my brain to see if I can shake something lose but no luck. :( Could you kindly refresh my foggy memory? Thanks! :)

Had a brilliant run with a mate today, just playing on local roads but still got plenty of miles in and lots of twisty bits. We done plenty of bike swapping, perhaps my bikes swan song o_O both these bikes (superduke R & GT) are epic!

Ahhh, now I know who you were referring to! Our friends, Roe & Shelly, got an F850GS not too long ago and we did an overnighter to Bisbee, Arizona with them in December. Does that sound right?

Roe has had vintage Harleys for some time and they come and they go but he will always have several in his garage. :joy: Well, this time it's the BMW that's gone. He traded it two days ago for the new H-D "Pan American", the ADV bike that Harley came out with recently. He did like the BMW but he's now the general manager of one of the two H-D dealerships in Tucson and I think he figured it might be good for him to have a Harley. ;) That said, the Pan American is a great bike! And it has 150hp, compared to the 95ph of the beemer. He and his wife ride two up more and more these days (though she's a terrific rider and does have her own bike--a Harley) so the extra power is helpful. We have another riding buddy that has a Pan American and he absolutely love it. And we have yet another riding buddy who rides a BMW 1250GS...and is not about to get a Harley! :joy:

Now it all makes sense to me. Geez, I was afraid I was really losing my mind...or at least my memory!:scream::joy:

Took a run through to Perth as the KTM dealer has moved into a much bigger and better located premises on the motor mile where all the car dealers are
    20220419_151741.jpg
i was hoping to take a test ride of either the Adventure or the GT, unfortunately they had no demo bikes, after looking at the new Adventure he had in stock i really don't think i could live with the looks of it anyway :poop: , the GT below looked better but he only had the one left in stock and it had 3.5k of extras on it making it about 21.5k! (exhaust, heated seats, tinted screen, some bits of carbon and the panniers) I'm not thinking about changing my bike yet as i love it, but i was curious to see how it compared

It does look better in the flesh, but none of the Adventure bikes are sexy looking!

Hi folks been away from here for a while with work etc. but still have my Triumphs.

Here's my latest and greatest non- Triumph project that's currently going through the workshop. I've not actually ridden it yet although trying to perfect the kickstarting technique in the garage

No riding today but I finally got down to business and washed my Street Glide. Ugh...should have done it long ago as there are baked on bugs everywhere. But it's WAY better than it was yesterday! I'm vowing to stay on top of cleaning it regularly from now one. For today it was a big job...I even took the saddlebags off, brought them indoors, and cleaned them after I'd finished with the rest of the bike. You wouldn't even know I'd washed the bike in the driveway. It was so hot and dry today (though overcast thankfully) that the water on the concrete was completely dry by the time I had the bike wiped down.

Any tips for removing stubborn bug guts that have been on a bike so long they're nearly part of the paint at this point would be most welcome!

A big wet towel leave it on as long as the Arizona heat will allow, then you should be able to remove them a lot easier, it softens the bugs up. :)

    Thank you @Sandi T X

Well..... sometimes first go but other times o_O
Plug out, clean it, wang it over to clear out the petrol
Takes you back in time having to mess about with a choke etc.

Petrol tap, what's one of them? oh yes, helps sometimes if you switch it on :confounded:

    Certainly doesn't like being flooded.

Apparently there were only about 3000 made originally then later came the 350 by Harley Davidson who bought the rights off Armstrong. Quite a chequered history really from an SWM origin; anyone remember them?
Quite looking forward to getting out on it and even already gone down a tooth on the front for more zap and kapow :joy: ....... and maybe wheelies  but its a bit of a bus at 160kgs and only 28 horses
Already thinking about the possibility of a mx front end for a brake upgrade but may just see how it rides; who'd design a bike with a bigger back brake than front???
    6" versus 5" missus
Plus given the modern trend of only a sidestand which makes chain adjusting a paddock stand affair this really does put them all to shame, left rear side stand, front right sidestand and a centre stand WTF

How many bearings in the back wheel?
And the list goes on, it is so over engineered and a proper thing of the past.
