Which in turn presupposes access to evidence unpresented and, as yet, unavailable to us mere mortals.
I confidently expect a lawsuit to be filed tomorrow in Georgia will be rejected but get interesting on appeal. After that, who knows? The kraken wakes? Can’t really remember. I must have been 13 or 14 when I read it.

To be honest anything could happen of course. But if Giuliani, Sidney Powell and Lin Wood (who had this shambles of an affidavit thrown out by a Trump-appointed judge) are the best lawyers they have then Trump is doomed.

I’m increasingly of the view that they (Trump’s team) know they can’t win in court because there is no real substance to the claim, but they are happy to just create so much sh1t on social media that their base support refuses to believe it and becomes (even more) paranoid.

Or never on it and ploughing a different furrow? Giuliani represents the
President and Powell the disenfranchised voter?

Trump did include her in a list of the team last week, then he and Rudi distanced themselves from her

You lot still winding that poor old Figwold fellow up and trying to shake his belief in his Democrat God?

Trump is over, he was never meant to be more than a warning to be heeded, or not. Now the Whirlwind will be for the reaping, it's all as it is meant to be. Break out the marshmallows and let's watch the world burn.

Can I give a report from the other side of the ocean?

    1. All the lawsuits were never going anywhere. It just makes trump look like a poor loser now. He will never be a force again in politics, the democrats hate him, and a lot of republicans didn't have a healthy love for him either, but he was better than a democrat.

    2. All american presidential elections are decided by the 15-20% of the population of voters in the middle. 90% of the democrats, would eat meat before they would vote republican. 90% of the republican voters would rather slaughter puppies on their lawns before voting for a democrat. So to win a election, you have to survive a nomination as a moderate within your base party, and swing the middle in the general election. The middle decides the white house.

Trump was elected 4 years ago, because anyone was better than Hillary to the voters in the middle. She comes off as a bi#$%. Trump lost this time, by shooting himself in the foot through his twitter storms, and his high staff turnover/ disfunction. He comes off as a angry rich guy who can't get along with anyone.

    3. If the election would have been held a year ago, I think Trump would have gotten a second term. The war he had with the media is kind of expected (liberal vs conservative), but the coronovirus and lockdowns worsened the problem/ perception of him. I don't think he's as bad of a guy as the democrats think he is, and I don't think the super conservatives are as in love with him, as much they detest democrats. And for the last 9 months or so, rightly or wrongly, he has come off as a rich angry old man. Trump- for most of his personal life, has been kind of a dirtball, which doesn't really appeal to the conservative christian right. But they look the other way, because any republican is better than a godless democrat.

    4. Unfortunately, we have traded a rich angry old man, for a senile, old old older man. But - remember, its only the swing voters that change the white house. And the swing people decided a old man that seems like a slightly slow sleepy uncle, was better than the one that yells at you for being too lazy to get a job. So now we have a man going on 80, entering one of the highest stress jobs in the world.

    5. Biden never makes a second 4year term. He's just too old. I personally don't think he makes it through his first term, except by being propped up by his wife and the team around him. He's really never been all there (he's never been known as a "sharp" guy)- and now his age is getting him. But there's no incentive for his own team to throw him out, so they'll prop him up for 4 years and then see what happens.

    6. The reason the markets are up, and most people are ok with the election (despite media perceptions), is that it wasn't a landslide- republicans have the senate, democrats in the white house and house of reps- so nothing really changes, and not a lot gets done. Everyone in gov't can get back to cutting deals, now that they know who they have to cut them with, and the rest of us can get back to trying to make a living and put food on the table. Nothing happening in washington is good for everyone.

    7. Don't kid yourselves for a second that if the election had gone the other way, there would have been rioting and looting going on in every big city. Because nothing says "I'm unhappy" like burning down your own neighborhood and stealing.

    8. I've really enjoyed reading all you guys insights into our politics in the U. S. , and moreover, have enjoyed reading the Brexit and political posts about your political environment. I read BBC, and Mail and a couple other news sites from U.K. but that doesn't give a feel for the regular people. Reading here helps seeing different viewpoints than the media presents. Thank you for that.

We have pretty similar problems with tribal loyalties to a money grabbing political class that gives not a **** for their core supporters but toss out the occasional soothing words. And, yes, the election is always decided by swing voters, more often women than men. They tend to listen!
Personally I pray for another melt down in our main parties because I struggle to vote for either.

If you’d been paying attention “poor old Marty fellow” you’d be aware that my thinking is anyone but Trump for reasons any rational human being with an ounce of decency can readily see. Democrat? No.

You know I wasn’t going to say anything but you can hardly take DD to task having yourself hit Marty with a line straight out of Julian Clary’s ‘Zingers for Beginners in the Art of the Waspish Riposte’.

I take due note of your untarnished virtue in tripping out the obligatory condemnation of the monster that is Trump. Original too.

However, I always attach great danger to draping our personal opinions with a higher form of morality. It can excuse pretty much anything.

Actually I didn’t hit Marty with anything other than a mirror of his “poor old fellow” line. I thought your grasp of English was better than that.

As for untarnished virtue, no I wouldn’t be so pretentious as to claim that, by any means. But I accept that I apply basic morality as a filter of my opinions, and am proud to do so, original or otherwise. I’m sorry if others don’t.

Not sure I can see the danger you attach, but I’m sure there is a great logic behind this as with all your statements Cal.

I generally agree with your assessment, except for #7. Just another excuse if trump won for unauthorized shopping. Was the swing vote influenced by the thought of violence, looting, and general destruction, quite possibly. Fear is a powerful force. It would have been a much amplified version of when Hillary lost. Fat lady hasn't sang yet.

Well actually @figwold you implied that I am not a 'rational human being with an ounce of decency' in your reply simply because I don't agree with you. I consider that as a personal insult and, through my tears I am reporting you to management!

The media is studiously avoiding comment just as big tech tries to censor all but mockery.

Meanwhile the Dems seem just a little less confident. It does beggar the imagination. We’ve seen the volume of allegations but it is the quality that matters most......and where it leaves ‘the balance of probabilities/more likely than not’.

    Popcorn!
