I just attended my first speed awareness course... (35 in a 30... my own fault, in the car) it was an interesting course, if a little patronising (but it needs to be for some of the pillocks there) the instructor kept picking me out being the only biker there, but in a good way saying how we’re in touch with the road and surroundings better than tin boxes. I was also glad he was teaching them to look for narrow road users at junctions... pedestrians, cyclists, horses & motorcycles ... if they looking for us, they’ll notice the big shit!

Something like me. One in 1982, another in 2003 (over 100o_O) and the last one 5 years ago. When stopped the last time, after I realised the guy was not going to let it go, I pointed out to him that his offside headlamp was incorrectly set and dazzled not only me (in my rear view mirror), but oncoming traffic. Plus he must have been doing well over 100 to catch me up with a defective vehicle that was his responsibility to ensure was roadworthy;). He wouldn't accept that there was anything wrong with his vehicle and returned to hide and catch his next victim.
I put in a complaint about the unsuitability of using defective vehicles and hiding off road so the operator was not visible to passing motorists, purely because he was a knob with a poor attitude. I also demanded a copy of his notes......
Turned out in his notes he had stated that when he had been notified of the defect he had immediately returned to base. Not so, as he had actually returned from where he had spotted me rather than going the opposite way back to base. The time noted for doing me and his return to base lost an hour, when his return to base should have only taken 15 minutes. His own notes caught him out. His notes also agreed with my conclusion of the defective lamp as he had it checked it on his eventual return and it was in his own words completely misaligned, in spite of recently being in the workshop.
My impending NIP was dropped, and I was informed he was taken off the Traffic Car duties. So it is worthwhile keeping your wits about you while remaining polite.

A mate got done twice on the same road in the same week too. When he went into the local court building to pay the second time the lady assured him he’d already paid

There was actually no argument, just the observation. It was his superiors that advised me the NIP had been dropped

About 25 years ago my nephew was a R.A.F Regiment driver, after serving two years of the six years he signed up for, he wanted to leave, but couldn't afford to buy himself out, so he repeatedly drove through a speed camera and got a driving ban then got a discharge because he could not complete his duties as a driver, I still think he was a dickhead for doing it.

Fill you boots sir, I deserve to be ridiculed for such Muppetry. On the course there were 40 people, they did a show of hands and not one caught by actual copper, all roadside cameras

I seriously looked at mounting my plate on the side with a hinged bracket so I could accidentally fold it in like the Harley boys do, albeit they rarely get up beyond most speed limits

Of course keeping your number plate in pristine condition when washing your bike is a priority.

What ever happened to that spray on mud you could get..:pensive:

My mate did similar, 34 and 37 in a 30 in the 90's. Same place, similar time and about a month apart.
    Some folk don't learn, obviously???

If it was a Saturday evening, can't blame him for wanting to get back to see Gladiators. Still have fond memories of Jet

I’d like to think that I’d been caught speeding on my way to present her with a pearl necklace...

"Jet from Gladiators to host a millennium barn dance at Yeovil Aerodrome. Properly policed. It must not, repeat, not turn into an all-night rave."

I forget the others, but Northants is one of four counties where the fixed cameras are no longer monitored due to lack of resources.
