well much has happened since my last visit.
i put the extra earth to the fan/battery and i t runs when you switch the iggy on but here in Texas thats not going to be an issue.
did an oil/filter change and put the fairing on for the first time.
one side was a replacement as destroyed by PO crash.
so one side has the crash bung fitted and one side was virgin plastic.
time for the hole saw.(worked out nicely).
but my question is the virgin side has a castellated nut and Allen key fitting inside that looks like it fits the frame to the motor, the other side which had the crash bung only has an Ali bushing that a long threaded bolt goes through securing the delrin bung to the frame.
circled in red in the screen grab
presumably it should be 2 sets , 1 each side.?
    thanks in advance Mark

Your assumption is correct, they should be the same both sides. What you refer too as the virgin side is original, Triumph refer to it as "frame to cylinder head mounting bolt" The procedure is fit the rear engine bolts from the left side first, then fit and tighten to 40nm the left hand cylinder head bolt, tighten all the castellated nuts on the right side to 4nm, then fit the right side cylinder head bolt and tighten to 40nm, fit the nuts to the rear bolts, tighten to 70nm, then tighten the castellated bushes (triumph call them engine mounting adjuster lockrings) to 45nm. Hope this helps.

well freshly platted and first shake down trip to town to meet a buddy (speed twin) for coffee.
all going well flying along about 85 mph on the freeway when i see a police suv entering the fray so i chopped the throttle and the speedo goes to 19mph still doing about 60/70 suspecting the new magnetic speedo doodad.
no biggie carry on to destination all good.
but on the return run the dash starts cycling through and then quits.
suspecting the fan running constantly is draining the battery.(it would not come on error code bad earth so i ran a extra earth from the fan to the battery earth.but fan runs when iggy is on...
pulled the front wheel and three of the magnets have come loose.
not sure what to do about the fan issue.
maybe fit an inline switch .
    any advise always appreciated.
    cheers mark

anyone know where a good earth point is on the bike as i connected the fan earth to the battery and in runs constantly and drains the battery .
so would a frame or engine mounting point work
when i touch the extra earth to the frame the fan doesn't spin, hoping it will when the ecu prompts it to.
    cheers mark

I'm sure you know the fan only works when the sensor tells it to when the engine is too hot ;)

yes the issue is when the fan was told to run it shows error code "fan bad earth"
so i ran an extra earth to the fan,but when connected to the battery earth it runs all the time when the ignition is on.
so i am looking for a good spot to connect the extra earth lead to.
as always any and all help is appreciated.
    cheers mark

The earth wouldn't make it run all the time your sensor is bad

Yes I would go sensor first. The earth I would run to one of the engine mounting bolts. But the frame may not be the best place due to alloy content. so battery should be best and as said change the sensor as it may be the cause of the continuous running fan as i have never heard of an earth causing that.

I assume the sensor would be the temp sensor in the radiator
.the weird thing is the dash shows the correct temps ..

If that's the case by running a extra earth it has bypassed the sensor then therefore the original sensor is bad is still true

I updated the map on my TT with my own custom one. Way better than the Triumph ones as they still have flat spots. The TPS light never went green for me either, I don’t think on the TT they have to, all I did was let it run up from stone cold to fan kick in (reset to 100 degrees) and let it cycle through so it went off and it s fine. Got my idle set at 1300 and it’s sweet as a nut.

well the water temp sensor ordered finally arrived , it is a bit fiddly to install but managed it without loss of blood.
I had previously updated the idle map and reset the TPS to the correct voltage range curtesy of a different post on this forum. But unable to run as waiting on the sensor.
It fired up settled into a smooth idle and fan came on at 212/100 degrees.
big thanks to all that helped.
currently drinking a beer in your honor
    cheers mark
