found a simpler way to take a screen shot of map off a pc, don't know how to with mac!
    click on start
    click on all programs
navigate down to the folder "accessories"
open that and find snipping tool click on that
your screen goes all milky and your cursor becomes a cross
set the cross at a part of the screen where you want to copy, right click and hold down then drag the cursor to where you want the grab to end, a bit like cropping,
let go of the left mouse button and the area you cropped appears in its own window
click on file then save as
save as jpeg and there you go

For tom tom rider users, if you save and copy a route straight from MyRoute-app or through my drive your waypoints either become destinations or they're not there a tall and uour route is a track. If you save it to your pc then copy it to micro sd and put that in your tt it saves the wps as wps.

I know what you mean but sometimes it's good to go via places and if you do miss one you can delete it then it'll reroute you

If anyone coming to the gmu has a tom tom and micro sd card could they save the rideouts onto their card as tracks so I can d/load them, as I've got them as routes and am a bit worried some of the waypoints might have moved in the transferring process.
Or if someone's got a laptop I can redownload them. Got a bit paranoid as I might be leading a ride out

Went out this morning on the Bonnie and got caught in a short and very light shower, ten mins max.

I then noticed that my TomTom Rider 410 had condensation under the screen glass.

I bought it in May from https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/

It's the first time it has seen rain so I was a little disappointed to say the least! I called Sportsbikeshop when I got back and they immediately generated a return but then emailed me to say not to return it to them but to contact TomTom directly.

I did this and I have to say they were excellent and have sorted a return for me.

My reason for posting is what TomTom told me after I explained the issue. It seems that a whole batch of Satnavs manufactured in 2016 have a manufacturing problem and suffer from the same issue.

They didn't say if it was specific to the Rider 410 or other models as well that were manufactured in 2016.

So if you have a TomTom and you think it might have been made in 2016 it might be worth getting it wet to see if you have the same problem.

well mine had a good test at the GMU, I've heard of this happening before, shame they couldn't give batch numbers

Think they all got a good waterproof testing at the GMU !

Only problem was, the amount of water collecting on the screen, made it difficult to see. And when wiped clear, screen thought I was touching it and changed view, so had to go to menu and return to map. :confounded:

I received the prepaid returns label yesterday evening, as promised.

    It's going to Romania!

Going to pack it up this morning and drop it off at my nearest UPS drop off point which in my case is the newsagent about half a mile away.

Has anyone had to get in touch with Garmin about any problems? I've not had any need to yet, but I've heard their customer service is non existent

When I was using my 340 I had issues with it connecting to hands free with my phone, so I contacted them they came back asking for model/ serial no etc etc and were extremely helpful in several communications suggesting I do hot reboots on garmin and phone, checking that I didn't have USA version, total wipe of garmin and reboot and re-register, then asked for it back and sent a replacement, still didn't bluetooth to my phone, went through the whole palaver again!! Chatting to a bloke at a cafe who had one and told him of my woes. He told me his had never had hands free connection to his phone either! Because the 340 doesn't have that facility!!! He was right!! So yes it's there but they seem to know jack sh"

A number of years ago I bought a garmin 550, could not get it to work correctly; could not adjust the volume plus a number of other problems. After a number of calls to Garmin they agreed to replace my unit with a new one. I sent the original back to them and with 3 or 4 days I had a brand new one. So from my point of view no problems with their service.

Never used a sat nav before and have always been weary of new fangled ideas and modern technology  but a mate at work reassured me and talked me through step by step using the latest google/biro software and wonder of wonders I've managed to download this route to the Yorkshire pudding rally :grinning:
Now if I can work out how to copy from my phone to my Aldi sat nav I'll be all set for tomorrow :p
    Wish me luck  IMG_0334.JPG

To make it even more authentic, copy it out in mirror image, stick to the front of your helmet, then angle one of your mirrors in, so you can read it !!!!! Be just like the real thing :p

    :laughing::joy:

And just hope it doesn't rain :sob::sob::sob:

Hey hey :grinning: it worked :) .....don't know what I've been scared of....easy peasy lemon squeezy :p
Ok.....confession time....when I first downloaded it into the Aldi sat nav it was upside down and it took a number of reloading attempts to get it right but I'm sure with practice I'll get the hang of it eventually :p
